I would like to point out that almost everything involved in making it possible for you to post what you just did was brought into existence in no small part thanks to deficit spending. The government taking out super cheap debt to pay for ★■◆● nobody else wants to do has an absolutely amazing track record if you actually look at what has been done with it in the last 100+ years. The investments that were made using that cheap debt have generated massively more economic returns than the actual amount of debt in service even now.
The Republicans and Democrats in power give absolutely no shits about the debt when they are in control because it is a total non-issue even now. Republicans are only pretending to care about it right now because Democrats are in charge, the last time Republicans were in charge they massively ballooned the debt with the dumbest tax code overhaul in modern history. The whole debate over the debt is just a thing professional politicians use to distract as many people as possible from the much more real problem of rapidly accelerating and uncontrolled wealth inequality.
Paying off the debt would actually be pretty easy if they just taxed the ever accelerating wealthy, and the funny part is that it wouldn't actually hurt the wealthy that much. You see the thing is, the debt is money the government has borrowed, this means it has to have been borrowed from someone and for the overwhelming majority of the debt in service it is being borrowed from the wealthy. So even if you tax the wealthy to pay off the debt, the majority of the taxes would be used to immediately pay them back the amount that was taxed with interest! Which highlights the real reason nobody pays off the debt; because the wealthy don't WANT the government to stop having debt, its an infinite money generating machine for the wealthy that requires no work on their part.
Well, I hope you're right Krom. I still remember the 1970's and 80's inflation and it sucked. We almost couldn't afford a home back then the mortgage rates were so high. We got stuck with a 14% rate for a while until the rates began to drop.

This is not a pro/anti Israel comment. Observation: They’re armed to the teef, have a neat iron shield anti-missile thingy that seems to do alright percentage wise, a population who have compulsory military duty so the boys and girls know how to point a gun, they’re wealthy, educated, technologically innovative (sometimes through espionage),and somehow manage to live in one of earth’s most beautiful places surrounded by sworn enemies.
