I've got Descent working on Windows 10 and wanted to modify DESCENT2.HAM for a mission I'm working on. I downloaded OTVDM and MSVBVM50.dll to try running the Robot Construction Kit downloaded from http://pumosoft.3d-get.de/documents/destuff.html but I get this error:
It persists even with tahoma.ttf in C:\Windows\System\System32.

You can manually copy tahoma.ttf from c:\windows\fonts to c:\windows\system32 to make it install.
There's also Descent 2 Workshop for HAM editing which might work better on modern systems: https://descentbb.net/viewtopic.php?p=389799#p389799

Re: [DXX-Rebirth, Windows 10] How do I get the RCK working?
Thanks! D2 Workshop works pretty well, except for a problem I'm having:
I want to give the Vulcan/Gauss weapons visible projectiles. I tried giving the Vulcan Bullet the Red Laser Core polymodel, but attempting to use it results in Rebirth crashing to desktop without an error message. Inspecting the HAM file shows the bullet's model got reset to "none" and won't actually accept a change no matter how many times I attempt to change it and save the file. Do you know how I might fix this?

This change does persist for me, and also works in Rebirth. I use a newer D2 Workshop version however, maybe that's the reason. My version is from July 2020:
There's also an even newer version from August 2021:
For further questions you'd probably get the best answer from the author on the Descent Developer Discord: https://discord.gg/vwj386XkCT

The new version seems to work like a charm. Thanks for the help.
