Time will tell if banning handgun sales in a country will actually bring down gun violence. Canada is now a current experiment in progress with this one, so the results will be interesting. Call me a pessimist, but I don't think it will make one bit of difference in gun violence since there are already millions of handguns in the hands of millions of citizens all over Canada and the government isn't taking any of those away.

We have orders of magnitude less shootings than you guys do. If there is another shooting with handguns here, it's guaranteed to be because they were imported from america illegally.

Hell, you can just walk across the border in some isolated area and bring them in. Your southern border is more porous than our southern border. There will probably be a new black market for handguns from the U.S. for those Canadians who want one. Who's gonna check when you're out in the wilderness anyway? What about buying semiautomatic rifles? That's the weapon of choice for our mass shooters here.

The fact we don't have nearly as many shootings as you do should have told you that already.

Re: The Canadians are trying it.
Canada has an estimated 34.7 guns per 100 people.
The USA has an estimated 120.5 guns per 100 people.
If the question is: "Does having fewer guns equal there being fewer shootings?" or "Does having more guns equal there being more shootings?", then the answer is already a completely obvious: "Yes.".

Hummm...what is that adage you guys always use, let me think...my memory isn't what it used to be...
Oh yea...correlation is not causation.

That is the same kind of debunked nonsense that conservatives keep using to push trickle down economics.

The other driving factor is we're not constantly hammered with "The liberals are grooming your children, shoot them to stop them!".Krom wrote: ↑Mon Oct 24, 2022 3:03 pm Canada has an estimated 34.7 guns per 100 people.
