Busy as a Beaver

Post by woodchip »

So Word Salad says if elected she will build she will build 3 million new homes. I wonder how she will do that when she only built 8 EV stations in 2.5 years. And even worse with 42 billion available and over, " She has now been leading that effort for over 1,000 days—1,001 days to be precise. So how many Americans have been connected over that stretch of time? Zero. " So tell me again why you think this incompetent can accomplish anything? And before you chime in TC, yes Trump has his faults but he knows how to get things done.

Trump knows how to get things done? You mean things like bankruptcy proceedings?

Oh, come on...it's just beeswax as per usual.

In the red corner...anger, hate and lies.

And in the blue corner...endless promises that won't be kept.

Problem is Spidey, if the red corner keeps even a tenth of their promises, it scares the hell out of me. I can live with the failed promises in the blue corner because I understand most of what they propose won't happen, which is probably for the best anyway.

These things are not at all equivalent.

Not keeping some lofty campaign promise is very different from actively fueling anger and hatred with lies. Especially when many campaign promises fail because conservatives stonewall everything in service of the lie fueled anger and hatred.

Even as Trump's own supporters call on him to tone down the hateful personal attacks and go after Harris on policy, the hatemonger himself just can't quit spewing the hate at his rallies. Trump thinks it's red meat for MAGA, but in fact, it's beginning to sour in their stomachs and perhaps lose them the election. I guess some MAGA people aren't so stupid.

This administration canceled my student loans, as promised. I'll vote for them for life. Just sayin' promises are kept, just like republicans promised to overturn RvW. If we are going by which kept promises are better it's Democrats all the way.

Well, nice to know vote pandering actually works.

You know what little gift I got from government this year...a HUGE increase in my property taxes...but at least the governor gets to brag about his 1.1 billion increase in the PA public school budget.

The fact that I could end up losing my house.....ahhh who cares.

Imagine voting for people who do things and solve problems for you. Holy ★■◆●! What? It can work that way?

Much much better than voting for people who mainly promise to punish or further exclude one or more targeted out-group flavors of the day (which won't help you better afford your home any, in fact it is likely to make things worse because the ultimate catch-all excluded out-group is the poor and you will get caught in the crossfire).

So how well did the Dems solve the high bill you pay at the grocery store, at the gas pump. How many kids have died from fentanyl flowing across our southern border. How much of your money is going to feed, house, educate (Spidey, want to know why your property taxes went up, try looking here) and give medical care to illegal immigrants. Then again one persons socialism is another persons neighborliness.

It's not pandering if I'm not being exploited. They made a promise to help people and delivered on the promise. By voting for them I make help possible for others and I'm not exploiting anyone in the process.

I don't have a problem with the government helping people...that's just silly.

But when a political party uses government power to enrich themselves, there should be a line that everyone can see.

Both parties do that, although the republicans are particularly blatant about it (eg: trump tax cuts). Fixing it isn't going to be easy, lots of ★■◆● is broken/corrupted by excessive power/wealth concentration and it is going to take a lot of political pressure to turn the corner. Plus it isn't just a USA problem, its global and will need global action to address it, probably sooner than anyone would like. Along with climate change, wealth inequality is probably one of the biggest problems the world is facing and it will likely be even more slow, difficult, and painful to resolve.

At least the democrats/liberals listen and make weak gestures to do something about stuff like that even when they really would rather horde more for themselves. Republicans/conservatives only blame it on some out-group or other, then when given the chance to do anything about it immediately move in incredibly blatant ways to further line their own pockets at your expense and let the conservative media silo twist it into the usual free market bull★■◆●.

Just to be clear, I make statements like this because, at this point, to vote for anyone besides the Democratic Party would require a cultural shift and those generally take a long time, most likely longer than I'll be alive since I'm getting pretty old. Ideally we have voting reforms passed that offer some kind of rank-based voting and a strengthening of third parties, and then we can vote for candidates who more closely align with our values. But in the meantime, Democrats are the Big Tent party so a leftist like me can find a home in their fringe.

Well I see you couldn't respond to my reply to Krom. Instead you put up a pic of Trump from 40 years ago and a equally old quote.

Gas prices here have dropped to almost pre-pandemic levels. Certain food prices have also dropped, but meat remains high. I don't blame that on Biden. I blame that on corporate greed and collusion between the few companies that control the entire country's meat supply. Biden can't do anything about that and neither can Trump, unless those monopolies are broken up and competition can run the markets and set prices according to demand. Kroger grocery stores wants to merge with the Alberstons/Safeway stores here. If it's allowed to happen, we'll be stuck with a giant mega corporation setting store prices and cutting wages/health benefits for it's employees, all the while closing underperforming stores, usually in poorer neighborhoods, and firing anyone they don't need. Whether Biden can even stop this merger is in question. Knowing Trump, he'd approve the merger as good for business, the prick.

Trump will also have no luck stopping the influx of fentanyl, because the Chinese are supplying the raw chemicals to the drug cartels to make the stuff. What's he gonna do, nuke China? A border wall won't stop it either. The allure of massive profits have a way of getting people to be creative when it comes to making that money and a lowly border wall won't be an impediment.

As for Trump, he's the same today as he was when made that statement years ago. Nothing has magically changed, because an egomaniac control freak like Trump doesn't even have a heart. Once a shithead, always a shithead. His former press secretary claims she's heard him call his supporters "basement dwellers" while he was president. He's already called dead and captured vets "losers", but you refuse to believe it. Go right on kissing the ass of a man who'd have no qualms using you for toilet paper if it got him what he wanted, power, glory and most of all, revenge.

I donno, it is kinda funny seeing woody flail impotently at all the made up pointless grievances along with the rest of the conservatives. So angry he can't even quote the right people.

What policies will Trump have that will do anything about grocery prices/gas/etc? Cut taxes on the rich and corporations? Make racism acceptable again? How did all that work last time? If he could solve all these problems, why didn't he when he was president and conservatives controlled the entire federal government?

And for that matter, didn't you get the memo? I drive an electric vehicle, I really don't give a ★■◆● about gas prices. We should get rid of all the gas subsidies, tax breaks to oil companies, and straight up handouts to big oil. The higher the price of gas the better if you ask me, nothing would make me happier than to drive my EV by a gas station full of angry looking people filling up their gigantic humongous titanic enormous "light truck" murdermobiles with $10/gallon fuel that will all blow out their asses in 2 days and they will be back again paying more than their rent for the ★■◆●. ★■◆● them.
