Learned a new word
Kakistocracy. We're so fucked! Thank you MAGAt's. I hope you enjoy Trump's kakistocracy with a butt ton of kleptocracy, nepotism and Christian Nationalism as icing on top of this clown car of a cake you just baked.

Oh, and by the way, bringing down the prices of groceries and ending the war in Ukraine is now hard for baby Trumpkins and he's just admitted it. Remember when he said during the campaign that he'd fix things on day one? Yeah, no. This from an idiot who'd never heard the word "groceries" or even been in a grocery store until he ran for president A SECOND TIME! Then he's so proud he'd learned it, he had to school the rest of us peons all about it like we're a bunch of kindergarteners.

I also thank those who sat at home during voting day, and the "I voted my conscience" protesturd voters. They straight-up let trump in.
All the lead-up talking about going out and voting turned out to be nothing but bluster and false bravado.
I've talked to a lot of people who did that and as soon as I ask them if they stand in the ashes of ten thousand dead Palestinians and Ukrainians and ask their ghosts if their protest vote matters. I then follow it up with how they are going to explain their decision to their family and friends when they're found out to have helped make it happen. Their silence is my answer.

Re: Learned a new word
Blaming third party voters is a hot take. Wasn't the conventional wisdom going into the election that third party voters were going to hurt Trump more than help him? I don't know if we have any more insight post-election, but you should be getting prepared to write third party voters a thank you letter instead! And, while a more attractive target, blaming everyone who was too lazy to vote is futile as well. The difference in polling between registered and likely voters was close enough that forcing all registered voters to vote wouldn't have changed the outcome either, and even if it would have, that isn't the way our system works, which is a system that requires the candidates running to actually motivate voters to vote for them. This idea of blaming voters, even Trump voters, is not very healthy and will not lead to any kind of solution to Trump and candidates like him winning in the future. The reality of the situation is that Trump swept the election and won with a mandate. The hard but necessary part is to find out why and next time run a candidate who will both (1) get people to vote and (2) for them instead.Ferno wrote: ↑Thu Dec 19, 2024 7:57 pm I also thank those who sat at home during voting day, and the "I voted my conscience" protesturd voters. Re: Learned a new word
I've never felt comfortable with this word since, to me, it implies strong or full support behind an elected official and their policies. Trump barely wining the popular vote doesn't feel like a mandate and Trump voters being something like a third of the population also doesn't feel like a mandate. Lesser mandate maybe, but even then it feels out of place. I think the last time mandate applied to a presidential election would probably be Regan's second term. I understand there is no hard line between what is and is not a mandate but either way everyone loses because the government doesn't support the people, only large businesses (if they are well connected).

And why MAGA voted for the very rich people they're afraid of is beyond me. They essentially put a bunch of foxes in charge of the hen house. Even if they get their nutty wish to destroy the government, we all get eaten in the end, not just their hated lefties. I hope MAGAt's like being fox food because President Musk loves it.

Re: Learned a new word
Mitt Romney just said this, although I disagree with the "won overwhelmingly" statement. Trump got the smallest popular vote win margin in history. So MAGAts can stop any bitching about Biden because Trump is doing what he said he'd do once elected and that's screwing up the government. Oh, Trump can blame Biden, but no, it's all Trump's mess now, so he owns it the little whiny orange ★■◆●. It's your collective faults for not listening or reading between the lines when listening to Trump's word salads at his boner rallies. I hope woody loves what's coming as Trump and cosplay co-president Musk get rid of the VA and all those losers, oops, I mean veterans benefits. They already killed children's cancer research once. They may succeed still.

Krom, I'm kind of curious. If and when you need to eventually replace your Tesla, would you purchase another since Musk has become best buds in crime with the Mango Mussolini?

Over 4 years in and my battery is still at over 97% of its original capacity so I have no plans on replacing it any time soon.
But since what I like and want to drive is no larger than a mid size sedan on the sporty side, the Tesla Model 3 is basically the only EV option on the US market. Everything else is some honking SUV or crossover with more body roll than a canoe on the open sea in a category 5 hurricane. So yeah, I would buy another Model 3, although by that point I'll probably be looking over the used ones instead of buying new.

Re: Learned a new word
There is that Chevy Bolt I was telling you about earlier. It's smaller than your tesla and it has a lot of snap if that's what you like. It really caught me by surprise the day I put my foot down - I knew electric motors had a lot of torque down low, but actually feeling it was an absolute game-changer for me. Now... I can't get enough of it. I'm waiting for the day where we can get an EV that doesn't have every system hooked up to the internet and calling home all the time. Just the idea that the company still has control over a vehicle that I'd buy and consider mine with their ability to brick when the winds change does not sit right with me at all. Maybe a conversion of an ICE car is in the future for me? Who's to say?Krom wrote: ↑Fri Dec 20, 2024 5:42 pm Over 4 years in and my battery is still at over 97% of its original capacity so I have no plans on replacing it any time soon.

Jeff: I'll try and find some time to respond to your post here. I'm not sure when, but just keep in mind I did read it.

Its not as long sure, but it is way taller.
And if you think a Bolt has snap, keep in mind the Model 3 I'm driving has double the power to weight ratio and is AWD on top of it.

While I never give up the 4Runner (they don't make vehicles like it any more), I've been considering getting an EV at some point down the road. It will probably be a used vehicle this time around.

Guess who Musk is becoming best buds with? The far, far right German AfD Party, especially after the Christmas street car attack there. We're coming even closer to having to fight Nazis all over again, this time on our soil. Thank you Fascist Republicans.

Oh, and we're gonna get another repeat of history. A Trump presidency and another pandemic, this time bird flu. We are so fucked.
