New monitor

Post by Dedman »

My monitor took a dump. I am thinking of replacing it with this:

How much are you looking to spend? That monitor looks far from fantastic. Bad text quality is the last thing I'd accept in a monitor purchase. Don't skimp on it, its what you're going to be staring at 99% of the time you are using your computer.

Samsung 900DF.

Thats what I'm getting to replace my CTX 17" monitor as my primary one. I'll keep the CTX as a secondary when I upgrade my GF3 so I can take advantage of having dual monitors. :)

Viewsonic P95f

I have a Sumsung 955DF and I'm not that thrilled on the refresh rates.

E95 (and the replacement E90) are just fine for budget 19" screens. We have 22 of them at work, and without a doubt, these things have great geometry, good consistent colour and refresh at 85 Hz at 1280x1024 mode.

I was dubious about them at the start, but they have proven consistent performers for well over 18 months. As such, I have no qualms whatsoever about recommending them to people. :)

Every KDS I've used was a heap. I'd recommend an NEC or Viewsonic P series. I have a p225f at home, it's pretty good for my purposes.

I ended up getting this.

A bit more than I had intended to spend but I got the required kitchen pass.

I don't game much anymore. Don't have the time. Even when I do, all I play is D3. When I can get back in the mines I guess I will just have to take my chances.

12ms response time is pretty damn good man. I doubt you'll see very much ghosting on that sucker.

Be VERY careful with what you'll buy tho....

This weekend i was sitting next to someone with a 12ms LCD, and i definitely could see some ghosting going on there, while I myself didn't have any ghosting at all on my 20ms panel.

Difference is, his was 12ms response time on average, while mine is 20ms response time maximum.

I'm using a hercules prophetview 920 pro, btw...

If it ghosts it ghosts. It's bought and paid for now anyway. I have tried some racing sims on it and it looks fine.
