mac user - decent multiplayer dead?

Post by davey »

hi, I used to play multiplayer descent all the time, but now when I click the multiplayer button and try to connect to pxo it doesn't do anything. is the network dead ? can only one on one games be played now ?

hope you can fill me in as I'm not up on all the latest news but loved playing descent. cheers!

hey davey,
nope d3 isnt dead. pxo is, and probably wont come back.

now that pxo is gone, all servers switched to tcp/ip, a good site do browse is esas tracker descent.cx:

http://d3.descent.cx/tracker.d3

a very good standalone tracker with d3 support is kquery, but i am not sure if there is a mac version:

http://kquery.com/

d3-chat:

all d3 player are now on gamesurge irc-server.

irc.gamesurge.net
#descent3
#descent3rookie

and of course some are on kali (browser+chat):

so how do you launch/ join a game ?
do you type in the dns address in the 'launch' column into the tc/ip section of descent game ?

cx offers a automated process with a batchfile but i guess that wont work on mac.

so do enter the ip/port manual in d3:

d3->multiplayer->direct tcp/ip->

type in the adress like this:

217.160.167.30:2094

(for example, 217.160.167.30 is the server ip-adress, 2094 is the server portnumber)

and then press "search for games"
