mac user - need help- multiplayer options buttons dead

Post by davey »

howdy - for some reason when i click on the tc-ip connection button in multiplayer menu nothing happens. I have the 1.4.2 update but no go. nothing happens when I press the parallax online button either but that's to be expected I guess.
any mac users know what could be wrong ?

You need to specify a specific IP address in the TCP/IP menu and then hit "Scan for games at address." To find the IP addresses of games, check out the Descent.cx Server Browser. You won't see any games under PXO because, frankly, it's dead :P. But there are still plenty of TCP/IP games being hosted.

yea, the funny thing is nothing happens at all when I click on the mutiplayer options button after choosing tc/ip.
it doesn't even go to a menu to let me input the address.

Davey,
Go back to 1.4.1(You do have it, yes? If not go here )and get it. The Mac Clan doesn't recomend the 1.4.2 patch and I trust their judgement on that. After you get it safely installed, then go Multi-tcp-ip(make it your default), type in a server addy, {you can go to theDescent Tracker and get server addies there} and click on the server search comand about the box that you typed the addy in. If it shows up, either double click the server name in the lower box or click on server name once and then the Join Selected button. If that doesn't work, find me in chat at the gamesurge irc server,#Descent3rookie channel.
Fus
edit:
You can also PM me here and give me an email addy so that we can get this solved together.

Sorry to hear that bud, I usually hit the escape key, personally when the movie starts to kick in and when the logo shows up. after that it should just load to the pilot screen. Contact the Mac Clan, and ask for help there also. What is ur screen size when u fly? 640x480 I have found to be the best resolution for me, any higher doesn't work on my system. What's ur Hardware config? Model, Chip, Ram, Vid Card and OS you fly in all need to know. Example My System:
Mac G4, 1.4 gighertz
1.12 gig ram
Radeon 8500 Mac Edition 64megs DDR
OS 9.2.2

If you can enter commandlines in the mac version, i would sugest using -nointro as one of them...bypasses the initial movie.
