Whoever thought a simple mix of cornstarch and water would lead to this?

wow ....

Where did you find this? It would be nice if there was an explanation or at least a theory as to why this happens.

Very cool. Thanks! 8)

Thanks Merlin. That is some odd chiz. So does this come under fluid dynamics or some sort of liquid plasma theory?

That sh!z is amazing! The stuff looks alive! But I gotta know, who the heck was sitting around and thougt that it would be neat to pour a cornstarch and water mixture in a pan and shake it at high frequencies? What, a couple of drunk nerds going, "yeeaaah man, that'd be kewl!"

I'm going to take a wild guess and say that has a lot to do with constructive and destructive interference?

The same nerds that said, "hey, let's see what happens when we run electricity through strings of metal in a vacuum"?

Have you ever played with cornstarch and water? It is definitely weird shiz! When you push it it goes solid, but you can pour it as a liquid.

Am I right in thinking it is the opposite of Bentonite Mud?

I wonder if the same dynamics apply to plasma on some scale.

rheology and wave propagation in fluid dynamics. i think the last bit is called `reptation` cornflower and water is used for models cos its easier to show it instead of using polymers ( but i think they were being lazy and raided the kitchen instead).
