New Level Release: J9
New Level Release: J9
The level can currently be downloaded from:
http://www.koolbear.com/Descent/levels/d3/j9.zip
****************************************************
Edit: The level version at the link above had a bug in it. A custom texture wasn't paging in on level restart and was crashing dedicated servers.
The fixed version of J9 (version 1.1) can currently be downloaded here:
http://www.koolbear.com/Descent/levels/d3/j9v11.zip
****************************************************
J9 is designed for Anarchy. 2-5 players is recommended. The level is very fast paced, and it has the MassDriver. However, even if a server op decides to ban the MassDriver, the level will still play very fast. That's if a server op would be willing to host it in the first place. :p
Powerups
========
4 AB Coolers
2 MassDrivers
1 MassDriver Ammo
2 Vauss
1 Vauss Clip
2 Fusioncannons
2 QuadLasers
2 SuperLasers
2 Plasmacannons
2 Homing Missles
1 Frag
2 ImpactMortars
1 Cyclone
1 NapalmRocket
1 Concussion
Due to its small size, concs and cyclones are extremely effective in this level.
I hope you enjoy the level.

The custom decorative "J9 flag" object in the level appears to be causing problems when the level ends and restarts.
That's what I get for not sticking to the K.I.S.S. principle - damned noob level-builder that I am.
Look for J9 v1.1 to be available ASAP, and sorry for the inconvenience.
To the server ops who were so quick to host the level for download and for play - thank you. I'll
try and make sure that the next version really IS ready for prime time.

Alright, let's try this again.
J9 v1.0 should be deleted from any websites that now carry the level (j9.zip). The problem with the custom object in v1.0 is serious enough to warrant the deletion of the level.
J9 v1.1 is the fixed version of J9. It has been uploaded to koolbear's website. You can get the file here:
http://www.koolbear.com/Descent/levels/d3/j9v11.zip
The fixed version has also been e-mailed to PlanetDescent and GameEdit.
I would appreciate it if Do Checkor or whoever uploaded j9.zip to www.descentforum.net/missions/ would also upload j9v11.zip to your site as well.
Thanks!

Thanks Leon, and GGs.
Even at a 50 ms ping disadvantage you were holding your own. It was beginning to look like you were more comfortable in the level than me. LOL
And of course thank you, again, Esa. Without you hosting the level I wouldn't have been able to catch the problem with J9 v1.0 so quickly.
And to anyone who played J9 and got booted from the server when the level timed-out or goal was reached on Saturday, that won't happen again.
Esa has been hosting J9 v1.1 (the fixed version) since Sunday with no problems.
