I want to sleeve all the wires from my PSU and fans in something. I was thinking about using the expandable braided stuff, but that requires removing all the molex connectors from the wires. You guys know of a better way besides that corrugated wire loom stuff or should I bite the bullet and just take off all the molex connectors and use the braided sleeving?
Also, where can I get the nicest sleeving? Best price, quality, etc.?
Hey Chris! How ya been, brother? Hope you can make it to Chicago in July. More info @ www.d3chicago.com . Yeah, I don't want to use the corrugated wire loom. It looks nice when it's new, but dust gets in the corrugation over time and it looks like sh1t. I was looking for another solution. As I mentioned, the braided stuff looks nice, but that means removing all my molex connectors in order to get the heatshrink on for the ends. Thanks tho!
Dudes, I have corrugated loom-cover-stuff all through my box, and I'm a heavy smoker. 2 years later the stuff looks like brand new. It's (relatively) easy to install, is cheap as dirt, looks great, and is also easy to remove.
Well the company I ordered everything from sent me the wrong size heatshrink (it was to big) , it was just big enough to go around the connectors, the only problem was that it didn't shrink completely tight to the wires, but it serves its purpose I suppose. It Looks good
If you're really desperate enough, you *can* wrap the ends using electrical tape and then use a lighter to melt the tape in place. It only takes a couple of seconds on each side to do it.
