http://www.a2zcomp.com/buy.asp?REF=12&SKU=GA5950ULT <--overpriced, but if you're desperate.

Why does it have to be a Gigabyte?

Well, from all the different brands i'd seen, I liked the package that came with that model.
I also only saw gigabyte and leadtek with them on newegg.
Any other suggestions?

Space Center Systems looks 'shady'. :P
And that a2zcomp.com's price is waaaaaaaaay overpriced.

Pricewatch is your friend. http://www.gameve.com/gve/store/Product ... C-GIGA-025

(I'm not even gonna ask you why you arent looking at a GF6800.. $280 at Newegg)

What are you smokin vin, the 6800's are like 550+
I'm not crazy. If i saw one for $280 I'd jump on it.

And I tend to lean away from pricewatch only cause I have no idea about the entity offering the item.

That article compares it to the 9800 Pro, which it beat.
The 5950 seems to have twice the memory, and higher core/memory freq, which is why I'm going for it.

If you're willing to spend that much, why not spend $400 on a 6800 GT at CompUSA? I just picked one up and have been quite impressed with it.

Cause the POS stores in my area carry absolute crap for video cards.
I've never found a top of the line card here.

And god-damned newegg removed the 5950 from their stock completely now...

I personally have a 5900 Ultra which easly overclocks to 5950 ultra speeds and higher, my card has 256 MB of RAM just like the 5950. Trust me, the 5950 can't hold a candle to the 6800 non ultra in virtually all games. The 6800 is not hurting for memory bandwidth or fillrate. It may run slower then the 5950 core speed and memory clocks, but it has double the pipelines of the 5950 and probably uses its memory bandwidth more effectively. Anyway in recent games memory bandwidth is much less of an issue then raw processing speed in shaders, and the 6800 destroys the 5950 there. The GT totally crushes it, and the Ultra/Ultra Extremes hardly ever put out less then double the performance. The same is true for the latest ATI cards, if you spend $300 on a FX card, you will regret it.
