"avi" file to play on site

Post by thewolfe »

"avi" file to play on site

I have created an "avi" file from "CamStudio". I would like others to be able to view it on my site or download it and play it.

I can play the file on my computer but can't play it when I "Save target as" and download it to my computer.

Any suggestions?

<html>
<head>My AVI</head>
<body>
<a href="http://www.mysite.com/files/myavi.avi">Play my avi.</a> Right-click to save to disk.
</body>
</html>

Does that work?

You can let people play and control your movie if you place it in your site using Flash. You can even give it a loading status. Try that.

going the flash route on that = not the way to go.
listen to testi and let the media players do the work.

Embedding a media player in a web page is like building your TV into the wall. Its too restrictive.

And flash is better? what you smoking

Truth and reality is both but....must be a certain way Robo where is the link to download that file?? thats why flash sucks no right click to save

Correct way: A link to download the avi file and a link to view it on the webpage via flash

It seems as if the whole file is not being uploaded. I'll get back and let you know.

Just spent about 60 hours in total trying to get .WMVs and .QTs streaming correctly, and with custom controls on http://www.carletonsheets.com/webapp/wc ... ndence.jsp

and lemme tell ya - it is VERY hard to make streaming media play correctly in all browsers when you take into account Active X, installed media players etc.

Testi had the best solution!
