Virus/spyware software

I have the following software programs to detect viruses and spyware. Can you give me anymore suggestions for free software programs to scan and clean for viruses and spyware?

Spybot
Ad-Aware
CW-Shredder
AVG
AboutBuster
HijackThis

Thanks. Always looking for software to "debug" someone's computer that is not running correctly.

ClamWin is a new open-source virus scanner for Windows. However, it does not yet have real-time scanning capabilities, so you would ahve to either manually start or schedule regular scannings. It is, however, free with no strings attached and has access to a very large antivirus library.

IMO, spyware and virii are overrated. Sure it's dangerous stuff (particularly virii), but I see no need to have more than 1 anti-spyware app and 1 anti-virus app. I run only Ad-Aware, Spybot, and AntiVir. Well all that and ZoneAlarm of course. :P

I agree-- if you need 6+ programs to remove spyware, I think you're defeating the purpose.

I also agree but I'm looking software to "heal" already infected computers. Thanks again for your suggestions.

Ad-Aware (spyware app) Spybot (spyware app) AntiVir (anti-virus app)

That's 2 anti-spyware apps :p

Ad-Aware 6.181 and Spybot S&D 1.3 should be all you need but what do I know? I've only been messing with computers since the Commodore 64 days....

Lately I've been running across more and more stuff that neither will remove, tempting me to go back to the tried and true spyware remover: fdisk! :)
