Mozilla and XP

Post by woodchip »

In win 98 the mozilla info (data) for email acct. settings and address book is in windows\applications\mozilla... etc.
Problem is where do I place this copied data in the win xp o.s.? I can find no similar win xp folder or mozilla folder that is comprable to the one in win98.
In short where do I place the copied mozilla mail data from the win98 o.s. into the new win xp system?

Arch, I can get as far as :

C:\Documents and Settings\your user name\...then there is no folder named "Application Data".
I do have:
All Users
Another folder with my user name on it that has:

Cookies
Favorites
Start menu
Windows
Desktop
My Documents
UserData.

Userdata has some sub-folders that have similar funny number/letter names so I wonder if that is where the folder in question should be placed.
Tried it and I don't see anything being accessable

There IS an Application Data folder. Tools | Folder Options... | View | Show Hidden Files and Folders.

Yes it is there woodchip. You've got to enable viewing of hidden folders and files.

Thanks guys. Found everything except the address book info so Mozilla on the new HD can copy it in. I'm frustated as this is the last bit of info before I format the old HD. Help!

ahh the joys of migrating.

you'll need to do some editing the pref.js.

best to ask here. I wouldn't be surprised if the question has already been answered there.

Thanks Flip. The link you posted led me to the correct place. The correct file is "abook.mab" found in the profile folder.

Mobius, aren't you "sheepish" that you couldn't come up with the answer. Image

If this thread was a nightclub, we'd be throwing longnecks at Mobi.
