Too Much Fun

Post by Nexus_One »

So I get to have my wisdom teeth taken out today.. I even have the joy of having one so impacted it's actually facing kinda down. My other bottom tooth happens to be sitting on a nerve, and if the doctor isn't careful, the right bottom side of my face could go numb for as little as 12 weeks or as long as my whole f*cking life. The only upside to this scenario is they have no anesthetist or anesthesiologist on staff. Thankfully my mom is an anesthetist, so she'll be there monitoring them the whole time.

Oh I almost forgot, I also have a final exam this morning. The fun just never seems to end around here.

I'll let you guys know just how much fun this really was tomorrow, tonite: painkiller cocktails. Woohoo!!

No anasthesia is an upside? Or are you referring to the fact that your mom can fill in for their lack of an anesthetist?

That...is retarded. That's like saying "I haven't gone to a mechanic in a year because I don't want them to tell me I need new brakes"

Going to a dentist is a good thing. If he didn't go to the dentist and get his wisdom teeth pulled then he could face some serious tooth related complications later in life. Or they could just crowd his teeth so much he becomes mistaken for the wolfman.

The last time I went to the Dentist he told me that I have 5 wisdom teeth. He then told me I needed to have them removed. When I asked him why, he couldn't answer me. I said no thanks. It was almost like him saying, we need to remove your spleen just because it's there.

Yay! I can't remember the last time I saw a dentist- I can't afford to go till I get dental insurance, because once I go there once, I'm gonna have to go a ton of times.

Hipnoval and Fortral - you won't know a thing. ;)

My GF Emma had a wisdom out 8 years ago - and she still has an area on no-feeling on the side of her face.

Was anyone else here utterly amazed that Mobius has a GF? Or is it just that noone here believes it? :x   :P

I have (or I think I have) at least my top two wisdom teeth, and my bottom two have been.. either trying to come in for years, or just aren't going to fully come in.

my dad and I had our wisdom teeth out the same day. The receptionist asked if we were brothers when we first got there, and we kept her thinking we were for quite a while. If you want to make a 50+ year old's day, ask him if he's brothers with an 18-year-old...

I had all 4 of my wisdom(2 of which were impacted) teefie's pulled at once, Oral surgeon took 15 minutes while I was under iv sedation. Oh did I mention this was while I was in the military and I had to go 3 states to get this done.

it was such a top notch job by a military dentist(scary) that I didnt even have to take any pain killers... SCHWEEET!

Now stop being faggots! but if you go for local not IV you just dumb, get all of them yanked at once!

Yeah I had all four of mine out earlier this year. After surviving the sham known as braces, I wasn't about to foil anything I did gain from them by keeping the wisdom teeth. They did have to re-operate on one of the sockets because it "healed to quickly," which I translated as flattery to let me forget about thinking about malpractice.

I did get the whole laughing gas bit, and I can't remember how they administered the general anesthesia (a lot to do with the laughing gas), but I do remember (as if it were a dream) waking up on multiple occasions for a few moments during the operation. No pain or anything, because of the local anesthetic, but strange.

Anyways, I'm still alive, and, remember, what doesn't kill you can only make you stronger.

All I gotta say is that sucked. I was nauseous the rest of the day from the anesthesia, and the pain was just fantastic. Thankfully no extended numbness, but the doctor was a f*cking prick to my mom, arrogant bastid. Very condescending towards her request to sit in on the anesthesia, even though she is an anesthetist. Who says heart surgeons are the only doctors to get God complexes?

Today my face is all kinds of puffy, but, I feel much better. Just can't smile, or laugh, or anything fun. Can't even workout for another few days. That sucks.

Thanks for the belated b-day Cops, you pennis. :P

OK, so now my left cheek is roughly twice its normal size. This is the side where I had the badly impacted tooth in my lower jaw. How much worse can this get?

my lower wisdoms are slightly impacted @ 45 deg. outward facing, towards the front of my jaw. no pain, not even cavities. ive been advised already several times by my dentist to get them taken out, but i replied....."they dont bother me, why cause the pain when its not needed?"

Because my bottom tooth was so impacted it started to push all my other bottom teeth together, causing them to get crooked. So much for 3 years of braces. I also couldn't even floss my bottom teeth in the last 6 months or so, because they were so tightly compressed together that I couldn't even get floss between them.

It will get worse, preventative measures are the best kind Acey Face. Get them pulled before you start to get problems worse than mine were.

Bubba, When I was in tech school we had a guy with a gawd awful tooth ache. ...well, he went to the base dentist and they yanked it. ... well .. it bled, and bled and Bled! So much so that the guy was getting dizzy, not to mention the toothache continued. We told him that he needed to go back, so did the sarge over the dorms.

He went back and they were like "oh, sorry. It looks like we pulled the wrong tooth and forgot the stickes." o_O

They cleaned him up and pulled the CORRECT tooth this time. This is what I don't get. The molar that was bad had a hole SO big, you could put a pencil eraser thru it. .. seriously. He said he was going to clean it up and put it on the chain. .... man I'm glad I'm outta the service.

Heck, you guys were all wimps :P.

My procedure took only 25 minutes or so, during which I was blissfully oblivious under IV sedation. I was a little woozy after coming out, but that's fine now. The doctor actually said that he wishes that more procedures went like mine did :). I have a Vicodin prescription to nuke the pain, and bags of frozen peas make great ice packs :P. As of 12 hours or so, I have no complaints, except that I could kill for a cheeseburger right now :P.

Remember, complications don't start popping up until weeks later.

By the way, about the pain meds, you'll enjoy those better when you're already feeling better.

Top Gun, if you had any impacted teeth, the fun will begin when your face swells like a balloon. Well, at least mine did. Pain is finally starting to die down. Did you get to keep your teeth? I was gonna ask for mine, but forgot after I woke up from sedation.

No, I didn't get the teeth. I wouldn't have wanted them anyway :P. I've gone through two whole days with only very minor swelling, so I think I'm doing pretty good. In fact, I think getting multiple ingrown toenails treated was much worse than this whole experience :P.

(I'm still waiting on that cheeseburger, though :P.)
