LOTR, now Narnia...

Looks like the next fantasy franchise is in the works since LOTR was such a hit... The Chronicles of Narnia was more geared for kids though. It'll be pretty "Harry Potter"-esque.

Like all wannabes after a hit, it'll probably be a disappointment.

I loved the Narnia series as a child. Heck, I'm 18, and they're still one of my favorite series of books of all time, second only to Lord of the Rings

. I hope the movies do them justice.

Uhh.... There's already been a halfway decent Chronicles of Narnia set of movies made, one for each book. I only say halfway decent because (although it follows the books well) all the actors are horrid British, and all have the frelling British accent, which I can't stand listening to through ONE movie, let alone all the rest of them. Otherwise, the acting itself seemed good. I don't know why someone hasn't already tried to mass-market those movies with all the rest of the success.

Could this be because the books are British, hmm? Besides, I don't recall the accent being so very bad at all. Some American accents are horrible, by the way.

I like British accents, actually. I never tire of someone speaking in with any accent, it's so interesting to listen to.

I hope these movies turn out to be good. We could do with another round of solid excellent movies.

. By child, I was referring to around second grade. I hope that a college freshman is considered less childish than an elementary school student, but then I can't be sure

Wow.... another set of fantasy movies.... wake me when it's over....

BTW, I liked Spider-Man and X-Men. The Hulk was pretty decent too, but the rest are or appear to be stupid.

BTW, I dig hot girls with british accents.

This might be good if they play into the symbolism C.S. Lewis intended instead of just trying to make a movie to keep the kids entertained.

I think when I read the books I was a little too young to actually get the symbolism. Except for the last book.

When my peers and i read the series as kids we read it for the fantasy not for symbolism. Havn't people had enough allready.

Interestingly enough, I read the books when I was waaaay too young to get the symbolism, yet I "got" the symbolism.

Very, very Jungian and archetypical, those books are.

I'd love to see a very well-done set of movies. I just re-read that series last year, so it's not just for kids.

I read the first book to my daughter in english a few years back, that was great fun. My son wants me to read LOTR to him after watching the films together.....i'm trying to wriggle my way out of it.

Yeah, and like LOTR, this movie is also filmed in New Zealand.

FYI: PJ's "King Kong" is also being shot here. The movie, not the giant gorilla.
