I'm trying to unRAR a 4.6 gig file onto a FAT32 partition. WinRAR keeps telling me it can't do it cause of the 4 gig file size limit.
Is there any way around this?

the only way around this is to switch to another file system.
not really a useable option.

Got a DVD ISO eh?
You are going to need NTFS, its as simple as that.

Yes, it's about 40 or so 50 meg RAR files. It's the ISO that is 4.x gigs.

Following that link...
So what's the theoretical maximum drive size of NTFS? I see 2^32 clusters is 256 terabytes. So if I square 256 terabytes, do I get 2^64 clusters worth of data?

flip, you didn't click on the link. I'm asking about theoretical drive size, what does the format support. Not what Windows is capable of formatting.

I stated it.
4 TB. I think thats on 32-bit platforms tho.
according to that KB article, its 2^64-1 clusters for the theoretical volume size

Anyone running 2000/XP with FAT32 should really switch to NTFS anyway.

Until the Linux kernel has full write support for NTFS, I'm sticking with FAT32.

The implimented partition size in NTFS for windows XP is 256 terrabytes (requires dynamic disk for over 4 terrabytes).
