How do you feel about that? A bit richer we hope. Please consider donating just a small amount to help some of the poorest people in the world. Many of their lives could be improved dramatically or even saved if you donate just one hour's salary (approx $14.44)

Well, because I am still studying and the only 'income' I receive is what my parents give me, it's not terribly high for starters. So, just for kicks, I decided to convert that into approximate $USD...
I'm curious to learn exactly how 11 cents could save anyone.

Sorry, if you earn less than $90 a year we are unable to calculate your position on the richlist.
If this is the case you would be one of the billions of people who earn less than $2 a day. Typically you would also not have access to a computer or an Internet connection.
If you are earning less than $90 a year it¹d be unfair to ask you to donate money to Care International, if however, you actually earn more than this it may be worth re-calculating your position
Bottom of scale is $91
Top of scale is $200,000

Yes... interesting things I learned in economics:
1) What Birdseye said; cost of living is a huge factor
2) Some people don't need to buy much - they might grow food for themselves or for communities
3) Not all transactions are recorded anyway
In essence, take the incomes of third-world residents with a grain of salt... it tells the story much less completely than it does in the first world. $1000 per annum wouldn't be close to sufficient in the States, but in an agricultural African community, you might get by quite nicely on it.
