Well it was bound to happen. Being a fan of the Yankees, I'm not too worried at all. What do I have to worry about? One game, c'mon, when Houston no hit the Yankees last year, the Yanks went on a 16-2 tear. With Steve Karsay back and the offense (where was it last night) as potent as any out there, I simply don't care. If we were down 10 games, I'd be worried about losing ground. But still having the best record in the AL doesnt' bother me. For a team that has the most power, and the best bullpen in baseball I don't think one hiccup is going to scare anyone. Boston wins 15 in a row and are still behind...so take it as you will
yah but it only goes in the loss column as one game. not three or four, but one. so is it that big of a deal? three years ago the Yankees beat the Red Sox 23-2...any Sox fans remember that? Has it happened since? No, will it, probably not. That stuff happens once in a great while, sometimes you're on the fun end, sometimes you're on the drinking end. I happened to be on the drinking end last night. OH well. It's just a sport for fun. Not life and death for me. I'll wake up tomorrow.
Z, you seem to miss the point. It isn't just 'one game' that the Yankees are losing. Didn't they have like a 10 game lead over the Sox about 3 weeks ago? This late in the season teams don't usually come back from a 10 game deficit and yet here the Red Sox are 3 or 4 games out of first place now.
There is a great chance that the Red Sox overtake them at the end of the year when the Yankees can't possibly make up ground and then the Angels bounce them from the WC. Not saying that will happen, but theres always the possibility.
Egos usually crumble and not a championship team do they make. Bullpen or not the Redsox still have better starting pitching and a just as potent offense. Starting pitching usually wins in the postseason. This will be one of those wait and see at the end though just like every year.
Whatever. Zuruck is just a dirty fairweather fan who, since his Cubs don't stand a chance of winning the Central this year, has jumped aboard the fag-mobile, AKA the Yankee bandwagon. The Yankees blow, and if/when the Cardinals meet them in the World Series, we will blow them out of the water.
Being a New Yorker and a Met fan, its real nice to see the Yankees take a beating. However, ya just can't take it away from the Yankees, They've won so many freaking World Series they make it look like taking a walk in the park.
Fact remains, Yanks have won more World Series titles than the Indians scored runs in that game. That is a far bigger accomplishment than a single 22-0 shutout.
Beo, I didn't grow up in Chicago. I moved here when I was 16. If I was to be a bandwagon fan, it would be for them. So anyways....check out this website I found.
Funny thing is, the Red Sox were 1 run away from the record. So...it happens to everyone. You're a bandwagon Cardinals fan Beo because they are playing really good this year.
