Well, labour day came and went and no game. Also, some of you were playing and asking us to join games where you were in act 2 or 3.

I was thinking we were supposed to start back at act 1?

I'm not against playing 5-6 jours straight with a few breaks on a weekend night but we need to set a date and time in stone.

Right now, my Sorceress is about level 7 from about 1 hour of playing.

So start a new character and we'll set a date soon.

a little more notice and I'll be there. A time where we all start new in the same game, and wait for everyone, i hte only way to do it.

you have to buy scrolls of identify, then use those, they will reveal the items and most of the time, they are magical in nature.

email me if you want to play a game tonight before 11PM EST. Check my profile for addyt. We can do a direct TCP or a bnet game

I ordered the games off of Internet so they won't be here for about a week.

Oh yeh and what's a good class to start off with? The demo only has Barbarian.

If you have the expansion also, I find the Paladin is a great choice. I've tried the others but find the Paladin and Sorceress the best for me. Paladin has team and area affect spells.

The Paladin is the definitive "Mister Party". Any high powered 6-8 player party will want one or two Paladins with different auras going at the same time. There have been people who leveled their paladins extremely high and never attacked an enemy once simply because the Auras can augment the party THAT MUCH.

In second place for party usefulness is a Curse using Necromancer.

Even better is a combination of two pally's and a necro. One pally uses Fanatacism, the other pally uses Conc, and the necro casts Amp Damage on the mob of monsters. Any Pallys, Barbs, Bowazons, Melee Druids, and Melee Assassins will have a field day.

That said, pretty much every character except the assassin has a skill or group of skills that can contribute to overall party strength. The Barb has his stackable War Cries, The Pally has Auras, Necro has Curses and Minions, The Zon has decoys, the sorc has Static, and the Druid has spirits.

Well, I guess the Assassin also has a decoy, but Shadow Masters kinda suck for parties...no damage and they tend to cast cloak too much, which really sucks.

Dammit, I wanna get an 8 player game going NOW!!! :D *bashes head on desk*

Ok I just installed and created a Paladin on USEast, non hardcore, Ladder/Expansion yada yada. Its like a crack addict who was clean for like three years and gets his first hit again...this could not be good for my social life.

Anyway, I plan on going out tomorrow night because my girlfriend is going out of town on Saturday. So how about Saturday evening? Say around 9 pm est? USEast, new characters, start from scratch?

Whose in?

Merlin
Me
Kompressor
Vader
PR
whuppinboy
Xamindar

thats a 7 person game right there.
lets set it up. This could be a lot of fun. D2 sucks when you're alone and just MFing or getting power rushed all the time. You gotta have a group adventure...thats when its fun.

Let me know.

let's pick some classes so we can have a semblance of party balance =)

My hardcore-based instincts are taking over here, optimal fast killing balanced with extreme safety, with skills chosen for higher levels in mind, are what I like to see. Of course we will probably not see much in the way of higher levels unless we really stick together. If all goes well, we can lift the GAT weekly game model from diabloii.net and make a habit of this. Here is my 1.10 ideal party (bear in mind this is for level 90 baal runs)

Werebear druid, with a caster build (mana and +skills) for big stun with shockwave and high life boost from oak sage.

Singer barb, stunning and fair damage with Warcry, huge Battle Orders for party safety.

Hammerdin, conviction aura.

Hammerdin, concentration aura.

DPS necro. Lower Resist curse, Poison Nova doing plenty of damage, and corpse explosion to very very quickly add big damage. (edit: this is a minionless build, with 2 tank classes and more stun is strictly neccecary minions are laughable compared to your spells)

Lightning Fury Zon, mass +skills. The hands-down fastest way to thin huge packs, especially with all the resist lowering goodness. Coupled with corpse explosion, any grouped monsters are laughable. Charged Strike, incidentally sharing all the synergies, is the best boss eater in the game too.

Fire sorc. Standard meteor and fireball.

Blizzard sorc. Slow and heavy damage.

This build will hold up at early levels too, and by the time we reach late act 5 we would be a killing machine. The one drawback to this party is a screen with 5 dispersed monsters dies slower than a screen with 12 packed ones. This is obviously a minor issue :p

Anyone else like to contribute a role agenda, or maybe pick one for themselves? Do you guys not play like that and prefer to just zerg? It's been a long time since I played with anyone that wasn'ta high-level hardcore mode player who refused to lose characters.

I know how to play a good necro. After I get CE and a respectable amount of mana everything will die in front of us.

So yeah, saturday sounds good to me...all we need now are two more people.

If bnet is laggy we could always do tcpip.

Ideally we need a few people up front on melee. Barb/Pally/Druid or so.

A WW Sword barb (Or whatever class of weapons is most powerful these days)

A Zealot/Vengance Pally with his blocking maxed at 75%. Two would be ideal for stacked Auras

A decent fury druid would help too.

And of course the Zons Valk and any NecroMinions will be up front too. Oh, and dont forget the meat shields!

In back should be the Bowazon, Necro and a Fire/Ice sorc. Tri-Elemental if the person on the sorc is GOOD.

So my ideal party stacking would be:
1 Necro
1-2 Sorc
1 Bowazon
2-3 Paladins
1-3 Barbs
1 Druid, so long as he has oak sage, will be helpful

So, for 8, I would go with 1 Necro, 2 Sorc, 1 Bowazon, 2 Pally, 2 Barb. Substitute a druid for either the second sorc or barb.

9 Eastern sounds good. Everyone bring a nude level 1 character!

Oh noes a minion necro >< they are so silly and lag inducing.

Pallies are not front liners anymore. There are two kinds of paladin now, hammerdins (blessed hammer + synergies, unresistable big aoe damage) and charge pallies (pvp only).

Maybe Saturday afternoon at like 3est? The afternoon works better for me because there's no guaruntees that I'm not out with the boys.

And I should be home late tonight if anyone is interested in playing later this evening. Probably won't be home till real late though.

Well whatever. The only minions I ever use are revived monsters, and only then if the front line sucks. And if the only good pally is a hammerdin then wtfe. Ive barely touched 1.10 so I dont know anything anymore.
