So for all the money earmarked for education the liberal intelligensia has taxed us,it would seem it is not being very well spent:
"Continued immigration and a stubborn high school dropout rate have stymied efforts to improve literacy in Los Angeles County, where more than half the working-age population can't read a simple form, a report released Wednesday found."

Somehow I just don't have any sympathy for people who have failed to master the most basic of communication skills, yet because they can't read and wind up society dependant morons, we are responsible to tend to their needs. Schools continue to pass students that should be held back, for fear their self esteem will be tarnished. Then when they are so far behind, they just get demoralised and drop out. So much for preserving self esteem.
Perhaps it is time for a military style school where students who are faltering are placed and corporal punishment allowed. A place where the students will live away from their homes, excerise is required and street corner distractions eleiminated. Sound harsh? How harsh is it being labeled a moron?
Wad dat say?

I say we adopt the japaneese system where if you arent good enough at certain checkpoints thats where youre cut off.
Like say, 8th grade, 10th grade, and then after you graduate high school if you want federal financial aid for college.
Fail the checkpoint criteria and youre done. You want more? Talk to your parents about private school or home schooling.

Actually D, Vader is going on the right track. In Germany I think the way they handle things is along about 8th grade students are tested. Depending on the score, some will continue on with regular education and others are put into trade schools. As much as I have dispareged the Hun, in this instance I think they have it right.
