Only thing right off the bat is that the eyes are way too wide.
Looks awesome otherwise though.

something about the forehead ridges aren't right. too few and they don't follow the brow curve.
but yeah like Tetrad said. awesome otherwise.

Thanks for the suggestions guys!
Can you elaborate on too wide? Is it that they are set too far apart, or each eye is too wide itself? Or maybe you mean they are just opened too wide?
Also, if anyone knows of a place where I can snag some good orthographic shots of Brad Pitt, let me know. I have a lot of stills captured off the Fight Club DVD for reference but they're not the best...

Did a fair amount of tweaking tonight, please let me know if you think I am going in the right direction. Always good to hear what someone else has to say... I've been staring at this way too long.
Here is right now, the hair is hidden:

very nice.
what you can do as a substitute for an orthographic is raise your own eyebrows and feel how the ridges on the forehead are. or use a mirror.

STILL plugging away on this head.... But it's getting there. Check out the progress I've made since my first post...
The new head is on the right
Anyway I'm still holding off a new post to CGTalk till tomorrow when I'm done with my tweaks. Then I can throw it back to the wolves and get verbally raped with crits again.
But you guys are pretty sympathetic so I don't mind showing you where it's at as of right now
And I did start his jacket... maybe halfway done.
Thanks for any feedback... more to come later

Jacket is almost done. I realized that I forgot to model the side pockets, so I'm going to do them tomorrow.

Thanks guys. I'm trying to model him with specific clothes on because by the end of the semester the plan is to composite the CG Tyler into Fight Club footage over the real Tyler. Will have to wait till then to see just how seamlessly this is pulled off...
The scene I'm going to be compositing my character into is the one where he says "I want you to hit me as hard as you can", I might be doing 1 or 2 cuts from this scene.
Plus when I think of Tyler I always think of him in that vinyl-ish red jacket.
Anyway it will be a few days before I make another update. My little sister's wedding is this weekend... AND it's valentines day and the girlfriend wants some of my time after all this workin'
peace and thanks for the comments

Yeah, the jacket looks more like Saran Wrap. The contrast in the highlights should be pretty harsh (ie. the highlights are bright, but anything else isn't), not smoothed out. You might have to put more wrinkles in too.

It's nogahide ... not vinyl. btw.. do you have ANY idea how hard it is to skin a noga? ..take my word for it.. it's not easy.

jacket looks fine..
don't touch the jacket until you almost done, then put a noise modifier with diffusion

Not perfect but I'm already slipping behind schedule so going to have to move on to the hands for now. Might get an opportunity to go back and touch things up toward the end of the semester.
I wasn't ever able to figure out what his shirt pattern was in that scene, and all my references were crappily lit and/or small. So I ended up just giving his shirt a floral pattern that somewhat resembles the actual shirt.
Hopefully I can post the hand models in a few days.... peace

Added the scar to the right hand.
I also started the pants ... but unfortunately this project is on the backburner till Spring Break starts (March 6)

That looks absoloutly amazing!
Although the scar looks like it's raised a little too much off the hand, not sure if that's what you were going for...

Thanks for the replies guys.
This is the only reference shot I have of the scar..
I'll watch that scene on the DVD again to compare more thoroughly...

the book has a good verbal description of the scar.
but my friend has had it for the past year, i'll have to grab it back off him and quote it.
you have to remember that that scar is a KISS. symbolically very important.
any pics you get of any of the space monkey's kiss scars would be the same. they are all tyler's kiss.

lookin at the photo and the model, imo, the face needs to be narrower from about the cheekbones on down. ..but can I do this?? no.
Lookin great!

Furious, chimp, if you have nothing good to say, say nothing at all. If you think can do better, prove it, then you can bash his work.
I'm impressed at how good the model has looked so far. It's very well done, looks like something you could sell.
