Windowblinds or?

I know some of you don't use an outside app to skin windows. For those of you who don't and have the edited dll, wheres a good website to get themes?

click me. That'll cure your uxtheme.dll to allow third-party themes w/o any software running in the background. (This is perfectly legal btw)

As for themes...

ThemeXP is where its at.

meh....some of those are good and all, but Windowblinds has more versatility in it's themes.

I prefer the uxtheme.dll patch, because in addition to the standard themes service windowblinds uses another 4-6 MB of memory when in use.

I used StyleXP until I figured out I could do the same thing with the .dll patch without having to install a dumb bloated program.

even with the .dll Windows still doesn't allow itself to be skinned as completely as when you use Windowblinds. The main windows theme itself and all the rest of the themes you can apply using the .dll are really kind of generic in comparison.

Thats because you're using a different shell. StyleXP and the like are shell replacements.

I'm quite aware of that MD. I was just weighing the pros and cons between the two and since WB doesn't cause windows to be any slower or faster then using the .dll, WB seems the logical choice.

can the .dll use the same skins WB can? i dont mind the small hit for the look, but if i can get the same look and not take the hit, why not?

All the DLL does is allow you to use third-party skins. All those skins do is allow you to use a different start button, taskbar, buttons, and icons. Thats it. The "widgets" that StyleXP, LiteStep, etc use can't be done with the dll. All the DLL does is extend functinality of the explorer shell. That being said, there are plenty of windows shells available for download that you can use without running a third-party program in the background.

I use Windowblinds, Smartbar XP, Winamp5 for a reason..... CLEAN

My Windowblinds theme
My Winamp5 skin (xbox silver scheme)
My SmartBarXP theme is integrated

Basically it is Longhorn Slate

BTW if you download anything from ThemeXP that is an *.EXE format, please run your spyware tools afterwards and remove the presents they gave you!!!
