LiveJournals / Blogs - what are the unwritten rules?

Post by roid »

what are the unwritten social rules for livejournals and stuff?

i'm sure a lot of you's have LJs. i can't exactly tell you everything i KNOW about their unwritten rules, so this may be hard.

just say the rules, the things that arn't written anywhere.

stuff like: what are teh differences between LJ comments (in LJ communities and personal LJs) and FORUM comments (eg: the DBB). what is the requirement/responsabilitys involved in seeing someone's entry on your friends page, do you HAVE to read it? do you also have to comment? i don't mean have to, i mean... just, is a fauxpas not to.

that kindof stuff, i could go on forever. what are the unwritten rules, what's fauxpas on LJ?

No offence to those who have them, but the people who I know in real life, who do have them, tend to be pretty self-centered.

They really do think that the entire world cares what they had for breakfast.

....bannana and oatmeal.

well i started to use LJ for personality profiling. there's some good individual personality type grouping communitys. but even though i've been reading them for months (and they have been extremely enlightening), i still don't know the LJ rules.

i keep mistaking LJ communitys for forums. is it a forum? coz ppl get pissed when they have a lot of entries on their friends list. it's confusing as to what's acceptable.

the only rule is that you believe all blogs emanating from iraq. there is no possibility that these blogs are being used as a disinformation tactic by the intelligence community of the united states.

Don't name names. That's about all I try to adhere to. I would also say that the really good blogs are much more of an artistic expression than just telling people what you did for the day. Artsy people who have a way with words can make their blogs stinkin good.
