new stick from saitek

saitek have just launched the x52 a new stick based on the x45 but with added twist/rudder onboard lcd screen for on the fly progamming, will this be the new pp pro for descent?

OOOOOH SHINY OBJECT!

...actually it looks very inefficient for descent. I need to be able to access 3 buttons on my js without moving my thumb from the hat switch, something I can do with my 3d pro, precision pro, and cyborg 3d pro. (im so pro

) It appears that you can't do that with that wierd looking thing. Though, you might be able to map keys to the rudder thingy.

Yes, that stick will suck donkey nuts for D3. It is intended for, and will probably be very good in, flight sim games.

i used to use one of the older models of the throttle and joy, personally i quite enjoyed playing with it, and the range of modes is amazing!

in mode 1 alone you would have something like 40-50 functions (including hats) and a wee mouse, but then if you switch to mode 2 or 3, you have another ass load of functions! (only if you programm the joy, of course, which i did not enjoy at all.

)

my favourite combo was always a ppro2 and a cyborg at the same time.

It looks cool, but that's probably about it. My brother, in his all mighty quest for the ULTIMATE Joystick, bought this sticks predecessor, the Saitek X45. I must to say it suct, the feel was grainy, and stiff. Just about the only thing it would have any use for is a dildo, and even then it wouldn't be that good because it doesn't have Force Feedback.

So yeas, I can NOT judge this stick without playing with it first, but one thing is for sure, it has plenty of BLOO, which would save Stress alot of time.......?

I really like Saitek Cyborg sticks, I've had one for a long time and haven't broken it yet with serious game playing. This one OTOH looks like it's a prime candidate for something to F up. Imagine spilling your (beverage of choice) on it. Wouldnt't hurt my stick, but it'd turn that thing into an expensive paperweight! Sometimes low-tech can be the better tech!

that stick's gonna rule. even w/o the throttle it has a ton of buttons you can do a crapload with.

the throttle.. oh man that's gotta be at least 100 programmable functions.

and mobi.. how can you judge a stick w/o even tryin it?

Hmmmm 3D Pro's and Precision 2's are about the only sticks I use.

Wingman 3D's feel stiff and cut up my hands when I play.

Seitek I haven't tried but the ones I saw loooked like junkers. This one looks nice but the position of the secondaries button is crap unless you plan to fire with your right. Would be fun for helo and fighter games though. Maybe even Mechwarrior games.

I had the first in the series, the X-36, and I liked it except for the lack of twist function on the stick. Had to use a rocker switch on the bottom of the throttle that was a reach even for my long fingers. Lasted about 4 months til the hat switches went bad. No way to replace them unless you want to cut through about 95 pounds of potting clue.

I have a Saitek Evo which is a pretty nice stick, but the X/Y axis is too loose for me, so I stay with the Logitech Extreme 3D Pro. I just got 2 replacements, numbers 11 and 12, from Logitech and Walmart and I notice the label on the bottom says Wingman Attack with different model and part numbers. Maybe Logitech has made some changes. I'm not going to open them as they're still under warranty, so I'll just wait and see how long they last.
