Their 24 hour average production is 82 points greater than ours and they are 2256 points behind us. They should overtake us in 28 days at this rate.

Yeah but look at their results for the day. They nearly doubled us. If they keep it up, they'll pass us tomorrow! We need help!

No self respecting 1 Ghz box would ever be satisfied with WinME on it ... Mebbe get a real OS?

Well, I'm still trying to fold, but my machine can't seem to connect to the servers. It'll get a little work unit, crank through it in a few hours, and then spend the next day or so "Waiting for core" and "Attempting to get work packet." Very odd. Very frustrating, too.

My computer is willing to work... it just can't find any.

I have exactly the same problem with my dually at work. I had it set to run 4 services (hyperthreading is enabled) and it would zip through the calcs and spend a day or so trying to upload the results.

I found a workaround as follows :

* I did a fresh install of the console version in a folder named .../Folding@Home/Console1 and configured it NOT to run as a service at startup.

* I made 3 more copies of the Console1 folder to get
- .../Folding@Home/Console2
- .../Folding@Home/Console3
- .../Folding@Home/Console4

* I configured each of the versions individually with unique cpu IDs.

* I created shortcuts to each

* I added the high perf switches to the shortcuts

* I put the shortcuts in my startup folder.

Now I log into my account and the processes startup ... I just hide the command windows they are running in.

I have no clue why I had to go through all of this but now it works ...

[edit]
No Norton Firewall here ... but this box is behind the companys firewall.
