Maximizing New Windows

This is one of those little Windows quirks that's a source of constant annoyance

. Is there any way to force XP to open a new window, such as a new instance of IE, fully maximized? I find nothing more annoying than clicking on a link, going to close out the new page, and accidentally moving my mouse all the way to the upper-right corner and closing out of the window below

. Any ideas on this? (And no, replacing/flaming IE is not an option here, guys

)

Also, while I'm asking, is there any way to stop IE from bringing up the stupid Links toolbar every time a page opens in a new window? It doesn't really get in the way, but I've developed an OCD with closing it every time I see it

I know those other browsers are better, but I just enjoy playing the Devil's advocate and continuing to use IE

Open only one copy of IE, right-click on the links toolbar, and unselect it, then close the window immediately.

The reason it keeps popping up is because you remove it then open a new window, and then close the removed one first, then the other, adn the last window open writes the settings.

As far as opening maximized...no browser has this feature.

To get rid of the Links Favorite entry, open regedit, navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Toolbar

Change "LinksFolderName"="Links" to "LinksFolderName"=""

to quickly maximise windows i use strokeit.

in the desired window, i hold the right mouse button and draw a quick short diagonal line. when i release the right mouse button the window maximises. do it again and the window restores. do the line the other way and the window minimizes. you get the picture, mouse gestures in windows.
takes me milliseconds and don't have to come near any buttons. highly recommended download.

Ahh, the age old IE6 bug. Theres an old trick to make it stay maximised I remember being posted on the old DBB. IIRC, it was opening only one instance of IE and holding down either SHIFT, CTRL, or ALT and clicking on the X.

As far as the links toolbar, thats a very simple fix. Click the view menu, select toolbars and uncheck "Links". As for getting it out of Favorites...I know theres an option to nuke it in Tweak UI, but for the life of me I can't find it right now.
