D3 Installation problems on Windows XP

Post by Dierwolf »

Hi all,

I have been playing D3 for a long while now on a 98 machine, got this grand new XP machine and when i double click setup to install nothing happens what so ever as if its rejecting the install file.

Can someone help?

Welcome to the DBB! :D

Have you tried setting the compatibility on the setup .exe to an earlier version of Windows? If you don't know how, right-click, hit Properties, and look under the Compatibility tab. D3 should normally install fine under XP, but I have heard of your problem in the past.

I was just making what I thought was a valid suggestion; it's worked for me with other programs in the past. Please, get off my back :P.

Descent3 is a 32-bit application so it will run fine on XP. No compatability mode is necessary.

Try cleaning the lens in the drive and then run setup from the run prompt (start -> Run).
