Sad, GameEdit

Post by Gooberman »

Krom showed me this...

quote:
The level archive here at GameEdit is going to be all but removed within 30 days. Some levels will remain on the server for download but most of the hundreds of D3 levels will be removed due to server/financial constraints.

What will remain...level reviews, all tutorials, other file downloads (editors etc). Some popular levels will remain, as well as all levels designed by the GameEdit staff. I can't afford to maintain this archive anymore. I recommend PlanetDescent.com for your level needs.

This will result in autodownloads not working as well. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Well, thank you for the time you did put in!

Would it be any help if we hosted levels for gameedit? I have 450mb of server space and roughly 5gb of bandwidth to offer up. I would gladly offer this. Would other people do this too?

I believe PlanetDescent has filespace for levels.
And guess what? They're alphabetical! However no search function as of yet.

Yes, many thanks to Sphlurg for all the effort he put into his site. Truly one of the finest D3 editing sites.

IMO, half of the levels in GameEdit's archive could not have existed if not for all of the tutorials by schplurg, Papacat, Hydra, Starkiller...

This site is a real godsend to the Descent Community.

PD should check GE's level list before it vanishes. I know there're a handful in there that PD doesn't have.

From Schplurg:

Hey all,
Thanks for all the kind words! I'm willing to look into moving part of, or possibly the entire, site. The autodownloads will not work though unless the domain name is also moved. I don't want to give it up, but maybe something can be worked out. The tutorials and stuff will always remain available. Please email me at mike @ gameedit.com if you wanna help. I'll check this thread when I can too. Waitin for approval so i can post here. Image

Actually, PD does have a rudimentary google search via the front page. It isn't everything but it works. Image
