MP3 player skips but not on computer

MP3 player skips but not on computer

I have recorded an audio file in wave format from an on-line source, converted it to an MP3 file and then burned it on a CD-RW to play on my portable CD player.

Some of the CD'd skip on the CD player but not when I play the CD on my computer.

Any ideas of what could be wrong or is there just too many processes I'm going through to get to the finished product?

Maybe the bitrate is not acceptable by the portable? Or maybe the CBR/VBR thing?

It probably doesn't like the media. My Sony doesn't really care for green CD-R disks, but the blue ones play just fine. When I use a green one, it has problems reading certain songs. When I "convince" it to read them, half the time it'll skip occasionaly.

I'm using blue.

I bought a CD cleaner that I'll try and also try to slow down the bit rate.

Still don't know why it was working before w/ the same CD's, same portable player and same audio files.
