DSL speeds

Post by ReadyMan »

my dsl provider is offering an upgrade in speed and I'm wondering if this is worth it....keep in mind that while I do minor dling off the net, its gaming performance that I'm after. Since I dont play D3 online anymore, I havent run across any game that has had the demands that D3 had for pings (I only play some SWbattlefront, alien swarm, Rise of Nations).

Here's what I have:
Download Speed: 384kbps - 1.5mbps
Upload Speed: 128kbps - 384kbps

here's what I can get for $10 more a month:
Download Speed: 1.5mbps - 3.0mbps
Upload Speed: 384kbps - 512kbps

what do you think?

For 10$ it's worth it. Just the increase in both up/down will make you happy.

The stronger upstream is worth it. 384k is a good baseline number.

Careful, Ready. I think Sonic might be offering that as a one year promotion only. Double check to make sure that the rate won't change after a while.

I'd shoot Sonic's sales department an email.

Yeah, their deals sound great. I called them, though, and for my area they offer 144/144kbps for $109.00/month.. must not exactly be local. ;P (either that or she said "per year" and I wasn't listening closely enough after I heard 144/144) ;)
