Mike Prettejohn, president of Netcraft, speculated that the blocking decision might have been taken to cut costs, and traffic, in the run-up to the election on 2 November.

He said the site may see no reason to distribute content to people who will not be voting next week.

Managing traffic could also be a good way to ensure that the site stays working in the closing days of the election campaign.
Scandalous.

Who gives a chit? They want their message to get out to voters in the USA. They are perfectly within their rights to do this to reduce traffic on their site.

Foreigners should file their complaints with the U.N.
I hear if you file them with oil futures contracts you can get some serious support from the U.N. Secratary General, the French and the Russians.

How many here would have actually gone to W's site if it wasn't mentioned? Seems to me to be a ploy to get unsuspecting individuals to bring up W's site and maybe actually starting reading W's self promotion. It's a conspiracy.

If the 'Not Authorized' page is meant to save bandwidth or keep servers from crashing, at least it could have been done better. For example, giving a 'Server is currently overloaded' error. Who cares if it's not really overloaded. Who's to know?

Saying you are not authorized implies that only special people are allowed. And, you are not special, so bugger off.

The right thing to do would be to handle the traffic. How freaking hard is that? It's not really expensive, especially compared to W's campaign budget.

No, the democrats are the ones who throw away money on whining people with no real right to complain. Republicans just say no.

I'm surprised it's blocked to Israel, with Bush being a puppet of the Zionist lobby and all.

They will not get me down Ford, i'm making it a mission of mine to try and give them a silly smile every now and then. Even Will has stopped his wittynessthingpostingstuff. I'm sure once this bloody vote is over we'll all be back to some semblance of normality. If thats possible in EnC.

I'm afraid that after the election we will have 6 months of wailing "it wasn't fair" by the losers followed by 6 months of "how could he appoint that slimeball" followed by 6 months of "I told you so" followed by 6 months of "the country is going to hell in a handbasket" which will bring us to the usual 2 year run up to the next vote.
Buisness as usual in EandC.

Another example why Bush is so stupid. Of course he can limit access on his site, but that is not the point of a website. I don't buy it when they say it's to protect against too much traffic. With the kind of budget they put into elections, they can sure pay for whatever bandwidth their site is going to suck up, so why bother with such a measure?

Xenophobia?

Post by Garfield3d »

I think the implied message is that Bush, or at least his website, is xenophobic.

In this globalized community, the United States remains an ardent player in globalization. It readily invests billions into global capital. It routinely involves itself in issues abroad. It ascribes to the tenents of hundreds of international agreements. America tells the world that it must globalize and work together. It is an active player in the world with actions and interests that permeate outside the fold of its own borders. Its actions and policies, both foreign and domestic, will reverberate throughout the global community.

And for this website, living in a global community: Americans only; no foreigners wanted.
