Golden opertunity for the NBA

Post by Gooberman »

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2004/b ... pended.ap/

There was a day when I could of told you the top five players on every team in the NBA. I watched it religously. Now I couldn't tell you one player from my home team. If I am making a choice to go to a game, I choose baseball 90% of the time, 9% football, 1% hockey.

I'm not going to make a long post explaining why, but I've sence lost all interest in the NBA. And I havn't lost interest in basketball. It needs to be cleaned up. If you hit a fan, that isn't in self defence, you should never play in the leage again. They are talking they "might" get a whole season.

The denis rodman wanna be "badboys" need to shape up or get the hell out.

Well, theres Amare Stoudemire, Steve Nash, Shawn Marion, Joe Johnson, Quentin Richardson, Jake Voskuhl, Casey Jacobsen, Bo Outlaw, Yuta Tabuse (First ever Japanese NBA player), Jackson Vroman (Rookie), Leandro Barbosa, Maciej Lampe & Zarko Cabarkaba.

Goob!, you haven't been watching the suns!?!? jeebus man. They're 7-2 on the season :P

Since the days of Jordan and the reign of the Chicago Bulls I haven't been a fan of the NBA. Shaq & Kobe of the Lakers turned me off from Basketball because I just...didn't like them.

This year is different. I know the players better on each team being that Basketball and the NBA is my second favorite sport besides Baseball and the MLB.

This kind of thing doesn't happen very often in Basketball. The fans need to learn to stop throwing ★■◆● at the players and the players need to learn that when something is thrown to stay the hell on the court or go to the locker room. Let security handle the fans. Tempers flare though and that situation was already heated up after Ben Wallace pushed Ron Artest.

No excuse though. Stephen Jackson and Ron Artest should be suspended for the rest of the year. Was funny as hell to watch :P

Weee! I couldn't stop watching that fight for a while. Have a replaytv, so instant replay of the instant replay... awesome.

Loved it when the instigator who threw the blue water cup... he was all taunting the guy he hit... then his expression goes 'oh sh*t, gahhhhhh, noooo' (as head gets slam dunked into the ground). Funny as heck, especially on slo-mo. The little black girl worked her way to the 'front line' and seemed to love the view (little white boy gettin beat the f' up by the huge black guy).

And the mexican who 'stepped up' on the court and got a nice 90 mph right fist in the face. I bet he was out for the count.

The fans are just as much at fault as the players, I think.

Now, that's good entertainment, IMHO.

The biggest problem with the NBA is that all the young players are made instant stars and get big money. This leads to a complete lack of discipline.

Solution: Rookies get bare minimum NBA salary and can be cut at any time, for any reason.

Of course this will never happen, but it would clean some things up.

As for the brawl that happened last night, I think Suspended for the season would suffice in sending a message.

One of the problems I think the NBA will continue to face by drafting High School players over College players is a lack of mental maturity.

That and their continued effort to pickup guys who are nothing more then common street thugs. Street Thugs + Big Money = Mo Problems.

I too stopped watching the Bulls since their reign, and since then the NBA has been going downhill. I dont want to reward by watching punks like these be glorified.

Honestly, a "rest of season" suspension is too little. Aside from criminal charges they need to be banned from the NBA. It DOESNT MATTER what the crowd does, you are a proffessional and you have to act as such.

These suspensions are a joke.
