Seems the pipes have finally did the pied piper on Dan Rather and lured him into the old retirement home. So the question for debate is...did Danny retire because he was ready to or was it a case of humiliation over the Bush N.G. papers scandal. Of course it was my opinion that it was the latter as the person who is responsible sits at the top. Blame who you want Danny, but you are the one with a agenda and that agenda clouded your ability for analytical decision making.
Then again the following might have been a deciding factor:
"When asked which anchor can be more trusted to inform on politics, NBCâ??s Tom Brokaw came away as No. 1, claiming 17 percent of the responses. But Comedy Centralâ??s "Daily Show" anchor Jon Stewart was No. 2 with 16 percent of the vote, compared with 15 percent for ABCâ??s Jennings and 10 percent for CBSâ??s Rather.
However most people, to the tune of 26 percent, chose â??none of the above.â?
Oh Danny Boy....

I really don't care. If I had to guess though, I would have to say that he retired of his own accord. My only substanciating piece of evidense for this opinion is the fact that his Bush N.G. papers scandal came from his 60 minutes gig and he isn't giving that one up.
Either way we are going to see a lot less of a very untrustworthy person on TV. I view that as a good thing.
