FreeSpace 2: Limited Edition
FreeSpace 2: Limited Edition
This was posted on Volition Watch a few days ago. Since some people were interested in getting their hands on FreeSpace 2, this might come as welcome news:
"We just had a meeting about it this morning. There will be 2000 copies available, and only through the Interplay store. They will be numbered copies and will be selling for $49.95. We will probaby start taking pre-orders in a couple weeks. We will be sending out an email announcement, and also plastering it all over the site when it goes into the store."

D1x was made independently by Sekmu... All one would have to do is buy their re-release of D1, install it, patch it, then use D1x just like we've been doing for years now.
There really wouldn't be anything different other then being able to own a copy or two of each title, which most of us already did years ago as well. On the other hand I find the fact that they are re-releasing FS2 for almost $50.00 ridiculous, as if it were a brand spanking new game . Thats about like Half-Life GOTY edition still being $29.99...what a crock of sh!t.

A Descent trilogy would only contain Descent, Descent 2, Descent 3 and probably their expansions. Nothing else. Why? Because these were the only games made by Interplay. Interplay has no control over Descent 4 (and in fact I think they might even be able to sue over it, because they own the trademark to Descent), and thus wouldn't be obligated to include it in anything.
I don't see one coming out though, due to D1's inability to run with current OSes (sure, D2 may refuse to install under 2K and XP, but that's easily bypassed and the Win95 version of the game DOES run under NT based OSes, running well is another story ).
