Other sites are saying pretty much the same thing, so that hardly constitutes "bias" - except that they are "biased" towards the fastest solution.
SLI only works on games which allow it - and there aren't that many of them. If it was a generic solution it might have some value, but seeing as how it's limited to just a handful of games, it's not worthy of the name "SLI" in my view.
I think the ATI offer will be totally generic, and THAT might be worth checking out.

"because he is an ATI owner... why else would he be wanking, or he has smoked 1 too many peace-pipes for the day."
BubbaFool to the rescue!
Just because I own an ATI card doesn't make me some kind of ATI loving nut. That's like me saying you're an intel fanboy just because you owned a celeron.
"BIAS hahah, the motherboard is a INTEL design for XEON'S think about why that is ...ROFL"
sorry dude that has nothing to do with what I said. can you remember if there was a review for intel or nvidia that said their hardware sucked? I sure don't. Also if there wasn't any bias it would be written something like "It was to be expected: an SLI computer with both a Radeon x800 paired with a GeForce 6800 Ultra in SLI mode beats everything for performance"

Yeah, read the article. The X800 and the 6800U are not working toegther in SLI mode. They where simply seeing if you could have both cards in a machine with dual PCIe graphics slots, and switch between them depending on what game you wanted to play. You use one card or the other, depending on whethere a game's developer sould out to ATI or Nvidia.

It is a chipset which enables SLI mode via the PCI Express BUS. The SLI connector is an enhancement to enable the videocards to communicate directly and share memory with each other faster than going through the PCI-E bus
I know you guys think the Connector is what makes it SLI...poof! begone with that misconception.
Use of the SLI connector does require identical cards, but via the PCI-E Bus they do not like Alienwares Video Array(this still is in the first stages so right now do not count on it)

Bubba looks like SLI may be comming a little sooner then you thought

Both of these developments mean that you will be seeing Gigabyte boards based on nForce4 in the next few weeks. You will likely find that you will actually have a choice in SLI motherboards before Christmas - at least between Asus and Gigabyte, and possibly MSI as well.

Where have you been in production Dual PCI-E for SLI motherboards, not refrence builds
I do not need a article on Tom's or Amandtech to tell me about technology that I have been watching for over a year and a half

was there any mention that the nvidia and ati card were working together in SLI mode?
no.
was this ever a debate on whether an intel motherboard had PCI-E slots?
no.
did anyone say that it was the connector and nothing else that made SLI happen?
no.
Wake me when an nvidia and ati card are working concurrently in SLI mode. and it can be PROVEN.

"No. You must use identical cards from the same manufacturer. However, Alienwareâ??s Video Array is designed to be independent of graphics chipsets and uses off-the-shelf graphics cards."
When you quote Ferno : include the whole statement not just a partial snipet (love you )
( says YES and NO, or we dont know, or they won't say until you buy their proprietary X2 motherboard/system)
The original press release states the design and SOFTWARE of the Video Array was around NON IDENTICAL CARDS...PCI-E/AGP/PCI. This is typical statement from A Specialized system builder...IWO you contact them, they sell you the additional card...
Personally I'm waiting till at least March/April when all the Real Gear is out and the dust has settled, not just the top @ top $ this is almost like the days when people were cranky that their video card could not work like a Voodoo2
Ferno, have some wheaties.....
