"Millimeter wave technology", a better X-Ray

Post by roid »

http://www.qinetiq.com/home/newsroom/ne ... ening.html

check out the picture, amazing!

i have absolutely no idea how this technology works atm. i'll look into it, coz i have many questions. does is use some sort of radiation? does it penetrate the human body? (it seems to penetrate paper and clothes, from the picture). why does the image look 3d rendered?

oooh i shal find out :) WHYHWYHWY

edit: wooo, this 2 page PDF has more detailed pictures of the previous picture, and another one showing 2 ppl and a hidden gun.

edit2: hmm, the radiation seems to be kindof stradling the line between Far-infrared and Microwave.

edit3: http://www.parascope.com/articles/1296/imager.htm a pic there. this article says that it detects radiation EMITTED naturally by the human body, another article said it used background radiation. i'm forming an interesting picture (no pun intended).

i imagine it'd be hard to find out too many details about this technolgy, they'd want to keep it somewhat elite so that the average man doesn't know howto protect himself from it (only people SERIOUS about being bad know how ;))

I hope they do implement the scanning technology in airport security lines. It would speed it up to the point all you would have to do is drop your carry-on in the conveyer belt scanner, and you walk thru a tunnel where they make sure you're clean.

You wouldn't have to take off your shoes, or remove any metal because they could easily see that you have keys in your pocket, a pen in your shirt, etc.

If you have nothing to hide, you have nothing to fear.

yeah i think it kinda is like that scene in total recall (but it doesn't penetrate the body, you can't see bones). it views you completely animated while walking down a tunnel no problem it seems.

i don't think anyone really believes that tripe.
