I have sad news... DOH!

Thanks for many years of fun in the community.

There were many times when the world was giving me a very hard time and coming to the Descent Community via the Descent Bulletin Board helped me a lot in those very tough times.

I just wanted to let you all know that my Mom passed away on November 19, 2004 after a long hard fight with Liver Disease.

She fought it every step of the way. It was an extremely hard battle the last 6 to 7 years.

She was on and off the liver transplant list more times than we can remember. Didn't help that she had a rare blood type.

If I could have donated a part of my liver to her I would have since we are the same blood type but with the type of liver problem she had she needed a whole liver transplant.

Mom finally had that liver transplant on April 1, 2004.

Without the transplant we may have had perhaps at best 30 days. So I'm thankful we got a bonus 6 to 7 months.

Mid-June 2004 went into the hospital for an extended stay until November 18, 2004 when she was brought home from the hospital.

My Dad took every opportunity to be down at the hospital to be at my mom's side during the 6 month timeframe. He was there every moment he could possibly be there.

My Dad has run himself into the ground just to be there for Mom.

Thankfully my Mom didn't die on their 49th wedding anniversary which was on November 15, 2004.

I'll do what I can to help him but he feels like "when your mom dies I'm already dead too"... DOH!

It won't be easy but somehow with God's help we will make it through.

I said my peace to my Mom a long time ago.

We shall all miss her... but she no longer has to suffer in the hospital knowing that she probably would never be able to live life the way she was accustomed to.

I'm glad that her suffering has ended.

It was very hard to see her in intensive care with a breathing tube in her neck and unable to get up and do things on her own.

I'm glad that I was able to spend a lot of time with her these last few years... from time taking her to the liver transplant clinic to asundry doctor visits.

There were many evenings at my parents' home where she was so sick that we literally had to cook for her so she could stay in her chair trying to cope with the hurts in her body.

Spent many evenings at her side and talking about things while she enjoyed watching JAG (Judge Advocate General) or Survivor Shows.

Now it is time for us to move on with life with the knowledge that God gave us a wonderful Mother.

All we have now are many wonderful memories and each other.

Mom is survived by my Dad, my 4 brothers, my only sister, and me. Additionally her only sister as well as all our families.

Thanks in advance for your thoughts and prayers.

Hope that you all have a very Happy Thankgiving and a very happy holiday season,
SirWinner

P. S. If you pray, pray for peace between all the family members.

Thanks!

I recently lost my mom too (october 13th), so I know what you're going through. My mom died unexpectedly, tho, so be grateful that you had a chance to say your peace to her. Just remember the good times man.

Thanks all.

It was a decent day, at least I got to spend some time with my lovely daughter who is 10 years old.

Hadn't seen her in over 3 years until today. DOH! (September 2001)

Working on getting that changed.

Funeral was today... I cried and cried a lot today... not for my Mom's sake but for my child.

Thanks everyone for the well wishes.

Now that 4 of 5 my siblings have returned to their homes out of state... I'm here for my Dad.

Now for the rough times for my Dad.

It's hard to imagine losing a spouse of 49 years.

However I can relate to not being able to see a family member for a while. Saw my daughter for the first time in about 38 months this last week.

We actually got to spend about 2 to 3 hours together over 2 days. At least it is a start in the right direction.

She's only 10 years old.

I'm working on getting that fixed as soon as possible.

Thanks again,
SirWinner
