Good lord... corporate-sponsored low-level DDOSing? I know it says its designed not to do that, but I can see people 'tweaking' it and loading it onto farms dedicated to that purpose...
Nifty idea though.

Pity its illegal in the US. It'd just be classed as a Denial of Service attack, and the creator fined heavily...and possibly sued by the spammers.

Actually, I believe the definition of DDoS has a lot to do with spoofed IPs, distributed Trojan attacks and this screensaver wouldn't fall into the category.
If you're right, then /. is responsible for tens of thousands of DDoS attacks per year.

I hope you people realize that you're more than likely going to do the same thing to legitimate sites that happen to be hosted on the same pipe....
Not to mention that this definitely violates the T&C for you ISP....

Yea, site seems to have been removed for a bit. They're probably facing several complaints/lawsuits at the moment.

A few days ago I tried to dload it from work and the site was hacked ... I only got a page stating that targeting spammers was wrong and that they had notified my ISP of my activities ...

No, what happened is the spammers just returned the favor. They shut the site down shortly afterwards.

Spammers need to eat some of their own medicine. Bill Gates, you're the most spammed guy on earth, YOU start something like this!
