It happened this morning when I was browsing the forum.
It started at 10:05 am est and cleared up at 10:20 am est.
The time to refresh a page was between 3 and 4 minutes.
It's only 15 minutes so no big deal, but it may help you track down whats causing the intermittent slow downs.
I just can't figure out why I couldn't get it to happen to me... but at least they fixed it quickly.
When Verizon gets this fiber hooked up to my house... I'm going to host the DBB at home. I think a 15MB/5MB line hosted on a dual Xeon with 15K SCSI drives will make for a fast server and free host.
Does phpbb run under Windows? (Being Mysql I'm quessing so)
If you want any help setting up phpBB under Windows feel free to IM me, I have had two BBs running on a Windows XP machine here for a long time and I have helped others do the same. I can talk you through the entire configuration of apache2, php and mysql if needed.
both IE and Firefox take at least 30-45 secs to even find the DNS.......
That long to find the DNS? That is a problem local to you or your ISP, not somthing X could fix because he has no control over your DNS servers as far as I know.

i figured that.......but im now on my fathers Comcast, and its even slower
Looks like its full again. Sheesh, I've seen free hosts that are more reliable than this server. This is rediculous. Its getting to the point where it takes FIVE MINUTES to post.
I have a solution: have one of our own members host the DBB. at least when there's a problem it will be taken care of immediately instead of us waiting a day, week, month, to have it fixed.
XC, want me to talk to my boss about hosting the DBB for you? I directly control the entire server from Apache to the DNS. Problem is we don't have that much of a backup system yet, and the DNS isn't redundant. If you want, you could set up one of your machines to act as a backup DNS and/or backup dump. The servers are located in Vancouver, and actually have a pretty decent connection.

same here, took me 6:34 just to get this window to come up.
This is well strange. I complained a while ago that the DBB was being snail like and all replied they had no problem. Now all is complaining and i find the site faster than ever.
I'm checking all the time 'cause i'm sitting at home with a broken leg, bored sh1tless. There's no problem at my end.
