HumVees are ripoffs of Lamborghinis
http://www.lambocars.com/framed/lm/lm.htm
i remember this car from the old game "stunts", and then when the humvee came out i always assumed it was just a rebadged lambo. but lambo actually only made a few hundred of these things, ever.
why does the humvee look almost identical? it this like when digimon etc all came out to rival pokemon, because they were too dumb to come up with their own design?
it seems that ppl think the humvee is as american as having sex with apple pies. i beg to differ.

well of couse they look alike..... boxes look like other boxes
I could say dude they both look like a landrover...oh wait that's another box...damn box designs
Who cares lamborgini is owned by ford, jaguar, and volvo.
Hummer was not designed to be a street machine, we could say lambo copied the jeep design.. basically that is what it is

Except the LM wasn't designed to go into battle.
It was designed to run like a demon on sand dunes so Rich Saudi's could make their camels jealous.
The Humvee, what the Hummer was based on, dates from the late 70's too.
half-assed research goes a bit further than plain speculation.

The Toyota Land Cruisers influenced both of em (first introduced in 1953). They were bigger and more powerful than Jeeps.roid wrote:wtf, the exact same time the lambo was made. too close to callfliptw wrote:The Humvee, what the Hummer was based on, dates from the late 70's too.roid wrote:the lambo's design is from the late 70s, they had it first.
You didn't know that? Scion is supposed to be Toyota's "teen" line. You know, "hip", "cool", whatever the young people are saying these days. Though I see at least as many 40-somethings driving them as 18-25s.Tyranny wrote:oh, so Toyota is responsible for the "Scion" line?!? Damn things look like shoeboxes on wheels. I guess that would be ghetto since thats what they're going for apparently. Ugly ugly ugly.
All the vehicles are based off the Toyota Echo, but at least IMO, I'd take any of the Scions (including the funky xB) over an Echo. But then again, since I'd never take an Echo, that doesn't say much.
And Bubba, Ford only owns 1/3 of Mazda? I could've sworn it was a complete absorption, but I'm not too clear on the details, just that Ford has a controlling interest these days. Is the other 2/3 "independent", do you know?

Ford originally purchased/owned 25% back in 1987-89
Up to now I have not found the trail, other than a few partnerships on expansions with Mazda in which Ford increases their % in Mazda. Ford is currently owning 33.4% of Mazda and 50% in Mazda JV's
Seems Ford uses Mazda as a stepping stone to other asian ventures while maintaining a 50% stake in the venture providing startup capital. Ford has also built factories in China which Mazda is utilizing for production facilities for it's M3's. and for Chang'an Motor Corp/Chang'an Ford soon to include Volvo and Landrover and Jaguar
When it comes to mazda products in the us 95% of the product is domestic parts, compared to 77% a few years back. Mazda does not import drivetrain or engines for it's cars produced in the US anymore
the MX5 was the only thing that kept Mazda from being absorbed
Personally I think the Auto Industry is in poor shape in the US Market 25% markup that pays for healthcare for the UAW, people lease instead of purchasing (that's called renting folks) Leasing should be for business only and require a commercial plate like it used to
