Hey guys, been a LONG while
Having a little problem with a RAID setup. As its the first time I've used it I'm needing a little help diagnosing a little problem with corrupt files.
I've got 2 80Gb Maxtor SATA150 drives (identical model) in RAID 1.
For the first month or so of use it behaved perfectly.
Then about 2 weeks ago when trying to run a game, Windows popped up and told me that the exe for the game was corrupt and unreadable. chkdsk solved the problem.
However over the course of the past 2 weeks I've had a fair few other directories or files become corrupt after using them. Every other day Windows does chkdsk automatically on startup and fixes what appears to be several hundred (if not thousands) of problems with the drive... and all the problems are on the RAID drive.
Having no previous experience with RAID... does anyone know if this could be a problem with one of the individual drives in the setup? or with the controller itself?
I purposely pulled the power out of one of the drives before booting up yesterday. Apart from the RAID controllers BIOS screaming at me for a broken array, it booted up fine into Windows. Shut down and repeated the process for the other drive, again without problems.
Re-duplicated the data across the array and booted back up again, still no problem. Yet this morning I've just got another corrupted file message... that solved nothing
Any ideas oh tech gods? :p
