a bat file to set clock on old win 95 machine

Post by REDDER »

I have an old P-133 machine that I use to access an old program that is no longer in production. I need this program from time to time in my business. The program is date sensitive... so I upon booting the PC I reset the clock to January 12, 1999 and reboot the PC several times in order to access the program.

Question. Is there a BAT file or command line or something... to put into the autoexec or command com or whereever it should go... a script that will load and reset my clock to the above date whenever I boot the PC??? I just wondered if it was possible so I can shorten the time it takes me to reset the clock and reboot the PC to keep this program active???

many thanks REDDER

Sounds to me like it's shareware that expires after 30 days and should have expired a loooong time ago :P

I knew this would be the response I would receive.

No, it is not shareware. It was a subscription program that cost around $2500.00 per year to research a specific product category. They sent a CD out each month with updated content. The old one expired at the end of it's specific 30 day period. Now the entire program is defunct.

I am aware of the DBB rules as far as hacking, etc. So if you all deem this to be an inappropriate request then post your response and close this thread.

BTW Tyranny... Your reply reminded me of a program I downloaded many years ago that reset the dates for shareware programs. That may be exactly what I am looking for. So I will look thru my old floppies and see if I can find it.

If anyone else wishes to help with my original question perhaps you will weigh in.

Besides... Is a program or code that resets the computer date to the same date on every reboot really hacking and a violation of the rules? I could have made the same request and not referenced why I needed it. Hmmm so much for being open and honest as to my needs. Of course that would open the door for even more speculation and accusations.

add:

date 12-20-1999

to the end of your autoexec.bat file.

(date format may vary, start run-> command, and in the dos-box type "date /?" for avaible options)
