Voodoo 5 * Geforce 6600 GT =

"3d1," Gigabyte's affordable, single-card, and dual-GPU solution.

edit: Although I hope this Voodoo5-esque approach doesn't crash and burn a la 3dfx's illustrious downfall. :o

Its SLI on a single board, I saw this coming the moment I heard about Nvidia SLI.

By the looks, you still need an SLI motherboard as well, even though it requires only one slot. So the advantage of the single-board solution seems primarily convenience and price.

Lol. I imediatly thought of the Voodoo 5 too. The could have at least said it was the "first single card SLI" instead of the "first multi-GPU".

Wonder if you could put two of those cards in SLI? >:)

Well technically it is the first "Multi-GPU" card, the voodoo5 had two chips, but they were still fixed function accelerators. The "GPU" didn't really exist till the Programmable Geforce3 came out.

With a card that powerful, more than likely you'd be CPU limited for a good while....

f00k CPU power. FSB and NorthBridge power........it would take a very high power AGP/CPU/FSB speed to even touch Quad GPU abilities

I wouldn't worry about CPU bottlenecking. 4x SLI would mean that that elusive 8x FSAA option finally makes an actual appearance, probably at 1600x1200 if bus bandwidth permits. 8)

So, when will Folding run on a GPU?

yah, 4x SLI would mean you could crank out the FSAA and FSAF settings and still get uber FPS Speeds
