lol.. If I posted something about a guy going after a lion with a couple of knives I think most would call him a moron, not brave. Will Robinson wrote: And if the men used sharp blades in each hand instead of guns they would be brave.
So I guess I have no business ground hog hunting then. Will Robinson wrote: If you aren't going to eat it or protect someone/something from it you have no business shooting it.

heh,
I've said it before and I'll say it again.
I'm an avid hunter, but I dont eat any game animal.
I hunt soley for the pleasure I get from stalking my quary in it's own habitat and Bagging it fair and square.
All, of my kills are given to family and friends who do in fact eat the slain critter(blech).
The clip depicted here in fact shows a group of people who are doomed from the start.
any hunter worth his salt knows that you NEVER chase a dangerous predator after you have wounded it.
If you have hit it with a large caliber weapon in the body cavity all you need to do is wait and let the innevitable happen. The IDIOTS are lucky their buddy isnt dead.
now I didnt see a reason as to why the "keystone" hunters were trying to kill this lion, but I will say this.
If it was a rogue lion, it needed to be done.
If these were trophy hunters, they deserve what they got, as I said earlier they were doomed from the start.
Even though I know many hunters who enjoy going to africa to shoot such animals soley for the trophy of a rug or mount, I do not agree with it. especially because the greed of the money paid for the hunt will take precedence over proper wildlife management.
Hunting is a great sport as well as a superior wildlife management tool and as a hunter it pains me too see clips like that and stories of idiots who abuse our hunting rights.
@ Kompy: I believe that falls under varmit control for the farmers.

I'm against trophy hunting plain and simple.
If you bag a lion *and* are controlling the population or protecting something then hang him on the wall if it pleases you. I won't complain.
However, if you want to kill *just* to have a trophy then to make it fair I should be able to hunt/kill/stuff your ass and hang your head on my wall as a trophy if I find you trophy hunting in the wild. Make a 'trophy hunters' season and then I'll have some respect for those who still have the balls to go out trophy hunting knowing they might be bagged themselves
Those guys were murdering a lion in a stocked game preserve...totally lame.
And in spite of their overwhelming firepower they still almost managed to shoot each other when the lion got a piece of one of them!
I know because a friend of mine was all hyped up to go there and do the same thing. He sent me a different version of the same hunt on film and wanted me to join in. I passed.

I'm not normally against hunting, but in this case, I'm rooting for that lion. I despise "big-game hunters;" they're a bunch of testosterone-soaked blockheads looking for a thrill, usually at the expense of some endangered species. Last time I checked, the wild lion population isn't exactly "thriving;" they deserved what they got. If you want to do something useful, try hunting some white-tailed deer in PA; now there's a thriving population.

I think by now it's more like Lions: 416 Morons: 0. I'm anti-hunting. Unless it's human-hunting with a paintball gun. I just don't... kill.
Hattrick it's kind of the same thing. It gives you a certain rush of adrenaline to pursue your prey, but like I said I do that with Airsoft and Paintball. I've never been hunting; it might be different.
And those were some high-powered weapons! Some idiot was shooting all over the place when the lion attacked the guy, I'm suprised somebody didn't get just plain shot.

I fully agree with that. I could never be a hunter, I love animals too much. I also understand what you're saying there Komp, but I just can't see what fun comes out of killing an animal that has no chance whatsoever to do anything about it's inevitable death. If you're gonna kill something to be "brave" or show that you have really great skills, do it with blades. If you're doing it for food or to protect someone, by all means use a gun. Will Robinson wrote: And if the men used sharp blades in each hand instead of guns they would be brave.

Re: Wild Safari Hunting....
The lion got a minor fleshwound while one of the "hunters" shot one of the other "hunters", and got smacked around by the lion. Thats not even bringing up their total inepitude when it comes to the operation of a firearm. How hard would it be to actually hit something the size of a lion fatally?! It was moving in a straight line FFS! I'd say that the score is pretty accurate.STRESSTEST wrote:Looks like one of the lions got shot to me. need some help with your score keeping me thinks
