I can't take it anymore...

Post by Topher »

I'm sitting here at work, doing nothing. They won't give me any projects to do. So I sit on my arse and make money while hitting refresh on my browser waiting for CNN/ABCNews/DBB to update. Image

I could work on external projects for non-profit organizations, but I need manager approval. Of course, the response is "there must be something you can do". Well guess what, THERE ISN'T!! No one else on my team has any free projects they need done. Of course, there are projects in the works for the next release of our product, but they're not ready yet.

You could do stuff on the DBB... Image

Or you could hone your PHP/ASP/whatever skills. Read the PHP manual or something. Learn how to hack your intranet. You know, fun suff. Image

Well, I have gotten a lot of research done. As an RIT student I get access to the ITPro collection at books24-7 so I've learned all about game design and programming, splines, quaternions, XML, etc.

The DBB needs to be upgraded, not worked on and I can't do that until I have the database user name/passwords. Image
But maybe I could start by fixing your avatar...? Image

But as far as coding and designing my own projects, I guess I'm a little afraid of that thing I signed that says "anything you come up with is ours and we hold the copyright, etc, etc". I don't know if it would really make a difference since it's all nonprofit stuff, but still.

Oh, and thank God for Groove Salad and Remote Desktop's ability to stream sound...

I know what you mean, Toph. I rarely have any work to do either. I surf the web a lot, talk on AIM, and I have a few games installed. I find that www.miniclip.com and www.xgenstudios.com have some pretty fun games. Image

I get 10 minutes of downtime every hour or so, when I compile and register a new version of the DLL for the application. (Biiiig DLL). I could use a little more downtime during the day. Smokers have it easy, then can take up to 2 hours a day off by going outside. (15 minutes per smoke). So they only work 6 hours to my 8.

Yes but at least you get the satisfaction of watching them die sick and early. Image

Better be careful . . .

LONDON - The head of the British Broadcasting Corp. resigned Thursday, the second top official to step down after a judicial inquiry harshly criticized the broadcaster's journalistic standards, and the network apologized "for our errors."
