Available for download here. Looks pretty good, it's basing on GIANT's AntiSpyware -- M$ bought GIANT on 12/16..

I read from an article that its like Microsoft selling a toaster that can potentially catch on fire but instead of fixing it they give you the fire extinguisher.

This may be good in a way because it will draw even more attention to the spyware problem plaguing the net today. Then again, maybe it will do the internet a favor and cut off internet access to those infected with spambots until they bother to clean their machines.

What they ought to do is put something like this on autoupdate so infected machimes get cleaned up when they phone home to microsoft looking for security patches.

At least that way maybe the lackeys would stop flooding the internet with spambots and spyware crap. Just the ones who have botrhered to turn off autoupdate would keep flooding.

I'll stick with Ad-Aware and Spybot myself, but I think it's good that Microsoft is at least acknowledging that a problem exists and doing something to resolve it.

What spyware problem

It's nice that M$ is actually working on this problem but the could have done that a long time ago when they designed Windows and all these active X things for internet explorer.

I imediately installed firefox and ad-aware right after I finished installing XP and I have had not one spyware "attack" in the 4 months sence I did this.

I guess it will be good to have this type of program in auto update for most of the people in the world who have no idea about any of this.

Hold on now Noobette, you're not thinking clearly. All these unsuspecting users who 's comp. are running hundreds of spyware proggy's, when cleaned up will start running faster and performing better. The owners will be thrilled and will not run out and buy a new machine to replace the old DeSoto (thats a brand name of a car no longer made). Intel, AMD and all the computor companies will loose sales, lay off people and cause a new reccession (just after Bush saved us from the Clinton one

). So careful for what you wish for.

I've heard other people say the same thing.

I guess Microsoft would know best what vulnerabilities to check for.
