Beyond Stealth
Beyond Stealth
Watching the History channels special on "Stealth" I found the most intriguing part at the end. A man was talking about secret projects akin to how the F117 was kept hidden 20-30 years ago. His source (a friend who works for Skunk Works) said, talking about 50 years into the future, that StarWars type X-fighters was a "been there, done that" project. What they are working on now is beyond what we can think about. Anyone here catch this part of the program?

Well, there is a lot of research going on in areas where the risk is enormous, but so could the payoffs: teleportation (not the entangled quantuum pair kind), FTL travel, reaching other universes, Omega Point energy, folding the universe - that sort of thing.
I doubt if Skunkworks is involved in any of that stuff, but there are undoubtedly super-ultra-secret things being worked on. Given their aerospace industry history, it would seem likely they are working on invisible planes (LCD-like surfaces), mimetic alloys (wings that change shape by applying electricity to them), planes controlled by thought, (A La that cheesy Eastwood movie "Firefox"), robotic fighters, you know, that sort of thing.
As far as BTDT for an X-Wing type fighter - well, that's just a load of BS and bluster.

Here is a little more on what I was talking about. It was called "Stealth and Beyond", also the source the person talked to was Ben Rich...a Lockheed big wig. I'm not sure where to find future programing schedules for the History Channel.Avder wrote:Hmm...any idea on when trhis is gonna be rerun, woody?
