One of the luckiest guys ever

How can you not feel this?
LITTLETON, Colorado (AP) -- A dentist found the source of the toothache Patrick Lawler was complaining about on the roof of his mouth -- a four-inch (10-centimeter) nail the construction worker had unknowingly embedded in his skull six days earlier.

Never again do I play with anything involving nails (not that I ever did, but I do have a history of doing stupid things).

I just don't understand how you can't know that a nail just pierced your skin and skull...

Having used nail guns for the better part of 25 years, how could this cement head not realize he shot himself in the head? To fire a nail gun you have to firmly press the nail shooting part of the gun firmly against what you want to nail for the gun even to go off. I guess the guy had such a small amount of grey matter that the nail never made it through his thick skull.
Did I mention the guy was a moron?

In the article, it states that he'd fired it into a piece of wood, but he didn't notice that a second nail came out at the same time and was lodged into his skull/brain.

It reminds me of this episode of Real TV, or some equally lame real camera show, where this woman had a knife stuck in the back of her neck and didn't feel it. She said later she felt someone bump into her. They had footage of her shopping around in a supermarket with the handle of a knife sticking out of her ★■◆●ing neck! She didn't realize it until she got home and her daughter said: "is that a knife coming out of your ★■◆●ing neck?"

You'd be surprised what the human body will do to cope with extreme trauma sometimes. You hear stories of people breaking limbs and not feeling the pain until much later after the break all the time.

I'd imagine it is quite similar when foreign objects get stuck into people with no selfawareness :P

Saw this on the news the other night--but the guy was complaining about blurry vision only, not a toothache. Funny how stuff gets so screwed in the media...

Must admit though, that is one lucky guy. That's something to tell your kids when they grow up... :P

And in this case, if the kids don't believe him, he'll have X-rays, newspaper clippings, etc. to back him up! :)

How can you not know that there is a nail lodged in your head through the outside? Would'nt the taste of blood be a freaking clue? I mean it had to go through his jaw. There would have to be a hole in the underside of his jaw or something.

Actually, he did complain of a toothache, and kept eating ice cream to combat the "infection". ;)

What I was saying was that on the news the other night, they didn't mention ANYTHING about his tooth aching, or that it was lodged through his mouth.
